Should Bookstores go the way of the Dodo?

While on the road, I was listening to the Sell More Books Show Podcast, and the question was raised as to whether or not traditional publishing and bookstores are going to go the way of Blockbuster and most video stores. While responding to the show, I began thinking that pivoting my podcasts to respond to other podcasts and create interactive content for my listeners might be an interesting change. What do you think? Feedback for my own idea, as well as to the Sell More Books Show Podcast would be fantastic!

  1. I DEFINITELY hope not. I enjoy the feeling of reading with a real paper book in my hands. this is especially true when I am wrapped cosy in a throw, with a mug of warm tea off to the world described in the book I am reading.. you relax & it’s another world full of beasties & people of that world.. I don’t have to worry about battery life , if I have extras, or what happens if I drop my machine or spill something on it.. if the electricity goes off I can still read my stories under a variety of situations.. I thoroughly enjoy digging thru bins of marked down books & have been known to spend hours doing so at my favorite used book store.. Not sure is you can trade e-books for others but with paper ones you can.. Another thing is that I can SHARE MY STORIES WITH OTHER PEOPLE or simply pass the books along for them to enjoy then pass along to other themselves… you asked for reasons … here are a few…my books & I thank you…:) K.Dobie.
