“We Are The FuMP” Commemorates 500

Several years ago, a group of comedy musicians got together and thought, “What would happen if we gave away our music as a group on a website?”  Soon after that, The FuMP was born.

The FuMP or Funny Music Project is a collaborative effort made up of a core group of comedy musicians. These are Devo Spice, Possible Oscar, Raymond and Scum, Rob Balder, Robert Lund and Spaff.com, Sudden Death, the great Luke Ski, Tom Smith, and Worm Quartet. These artists have committed to releasing new or unreleased recordings of their music to the public under a Creative Commons license. This means they promise not to be upset when a video of you lip syncing their song in your underwear appears on YouTube.

Yesterday, the FuMP released a collaborative song featuring most of the artists on the site.  The latest funny song is called “We Are The FuMP“. It's a parody of “We Are the World”, the 80's pop sensation that raised money for humanitarian aid in Africa. This new parody commemorates 500 songs released for free by The Funny Music Project. I even have a wee part in the song along.

Go listen to it now at TheFump.com. I have a small part about cats and hobbits.

Oh! In true “We Are the World” fashion, profits from the sales of the song will benefiting someone too. I was surprised to see that, in fact, sales will benefit my daughter, Kenzie.

I gotta say a huge thanks to all the members and listeners to The FuMP. They've been HUGE supporters of my daughter, and we've raised well over a thousand dollars thanks to their individual generosity.

Please show The FuMP how awesome they are. Subscribe and get high-quality downloads, CDs and more from some of the best comedy musicians online!

Thank you!
