I'm doing a whole bunch of Celtic Christmas marketing research. It makes me remember why I've been so successful in the music business–the digital realm is virtually untouched. While most Celtic musicians promote themselves online, few have done nearly as much as I have.
I told my Patrons the other day that I was looking into doing holiday music specials. Go look for Celtic music specials, and you'll pretty much just fine Celtic Woman, Celtic Thunder, and Riverdance. Though there are more. But NONE of them have a digital video special online. You can't stream the Celtic Woman Christmas shows anywhere online that I've found (though I haven't checked their website).
Again, it's a market that is wide open and that this Celtic musician would LOVE to dive into!
IF I could frame it properly…
That's the challenge. How to market it. I've been brainstorming doing a Celtic Christmas Video special. I can pull one off by myself. But seeing as how I play an autoharp, the show would get lambasted if I didn't frame it properly, unless I could pull in some trad instrumentation into the “show”.
Perhaps I should continue with the theme I already started and do a Celtic Christmas Pub Songs Music Special? That's not too bad an idea even if the name is super long… Hmmm….
Celtic Christmas Greetings Song List
Now the reason I'm even working on all of this is that I'm trying to finish recording the music for my Kickstarter of Celtic Christmas Greeting Cards. I have until November 3rd before the Kickstarter closes. And I need to finish the music and graphics and production before then so I can get the cards out to everyone who pre-ordered the albums.
You see, I love the album/greeting cards cover so much that I think this will be my long-term Christmas album. Right now, I have 9 tracks recorded. They include:
- The Scottish King of Christmas
- Celtic Christmas Elf
- Christmas in Scotland
- Silent Night
- Christmas in Killarney
- God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,
- Frosty the Irish Snowman
- Christmas in the Shire
- Jingle Bells
I'm not a fan of 9-song full-length albums. So I need at least one more song. But I'd prefer 2-3. And since this week is shot for writing new music (my mom is in town). That means I either need to write, write, write my butt off next week, or find songs already written, or hope I can find someone to write me lyrics (I emailed Rie Sheridan Rose today, but I didn't give her much time to work with).
Anyway, the Kickstarter is at 60% of its goal with 11 days remaining. Oy! This is gonna be close.
