I've had an internal debate for a while now. I have two CDs I've been planning for a while Sci Fi Drinking Songs and Wherever I May Roam. I've always been a big fan of themed CDs. It makes them easier to sell. But I think I may change my mind with this album. You see, originally those two CDs were planned as one. Then I decided to split them into two CDs. Now I think I'm gonna go back to one.
Aren't I wishy-washy?
Don't ever vote for me if I ever become a politician.
One of the main reasons I decided to split the album was because of a new song I wrote called “Wherever I May Roam“. I LOVE this song. I wrote it for my wife. It's beautiful and catchy and fun. I've ended all of my regular shows at Sherwood with this song. Every time I play it, the audience brightens up and sings along.
The problem? It's not Sci Fi. But it IS a good sing-along.
I think “Wherever I May Roam” will make a great addition to this…well, any album. I'm having trouble keeping up with my rigorous recording schedule. There are too many songs that I want to record. And I am not recouping the money fast enough to warrant production of multiple albums. Instead of waiting, six months to a year to add this to a separate CD, I'm gonna adjust the track list once again and add a couple songs that might be a wee bit different into the fold.
Here is the current track list for Sci Fi Drinking Songs:
- Doctor of Gallifrey
- Browncoats Keep Flyin'
- Reavers, Malcolm, Reavers
- Bring Me Home, Boys
- La La La
- The Smial or the Tree
- A Boy and His Frog
- Romulan Ale
- Jedi Prequel
- Come Take a Ride in my Airship
- It's It Grand Boys to Be Walking Undead
- Purple Flower
- Charmed
- Wherever I May Roam
I'm still picking songs. So one of the cool things about me combining two CDs into one is that each album is packed far more full of songs than I'd normally prefer to put on a CD. Yup. More music for you!
I am also waiting on TWO incredible guests on this album, not including my usual crew of recording helpers like Dan Briggs and Nathan Deese. Or all of the people who volunteered to sing on “Romulan Ale” on Facebook. I can't announce either of those artists until I have a final confirmation. But it's gonna be awesome!
In fact, I need to find more musicians to collaborate with. I'll have to think about that more…
PS. Don't be surprised if I change my mind again tomorrow. It's kinda late and I'm tired.
