Dragon Con 2015, Chaz Kemp Interview, Art Nouveau, Pandora Celtica / CF#42

Live (Ish) from DragonCon 2015!

This has been a phenomenal DragonCon with amazing gigs and audiences! As we've reached Monday morning, the Con is winding down, but there's still plenty to do. There's a lot to do in the upcoming weeks, but for now, I'd like to highlight the work of a friend of mine, Chaz Kemp.

Celtic Music Spotlight Interview at DragonCon

Artist: Chaz Kemp
Band: Pandora Celtica

Pandora Celtica

What kind of band are you? We are a four-part dark-fairy celtic acapella band that likes to concentrate on the sad and depressing songs that most celtic artists avoid, but we give them an upbeat and happy tune! We've been playing for 10 years.
What was your favourite thing at DragonCon? The Sunday night show in the FILK room, with a ton of fans who were singing along with the music loudly!
How would you describe your style? Inspired by Art Nouveau, which was hugely popular from 1890-1910. It's made resurgences in the 1960s and lately, and was the first style used to adapt art to books and advertisements.
How did you get started working with Art Nouveau? Ever since my childhood, when a lot of the books I read had Art Nouveau styling. The art was beautiful, and when I went to college, I decided that I wanted to do my art in the style that I love, so I just dove into it. Add in the influence from steampunk, science fiction, and fantasy, and all of these stylings and themes just speak to me and inspire me.
