“Great Celtic Music! This is (as weird as it may sound) a fun album I have been listening to it continuously since I purchased it (specifically for Johnny Jump up) and have yet to tire of any of it! Thanks Marc for recording these bloody fine songs, I will enjoy them for many a year to come.” – Ivan Sack on Happy Songs of Death

Greetings $first_name and Happy September!

scotlandI can say that now because I went for a walk this morning, and it was utter bliss. The weather was just perfect. After a hot and humid summer, my mind woke up. Poof! The flowers were more beautiful and the birds sang so much more clear. We probably have another month before this weather sticks, but wow! It feels great right now.

It also feels great to know there are just six weeks to go until my daughter is born. Gwen and I are ready to have this wee bairn in our lives. Our baby room is already to go. And while there are still a few items left on our Babies R Us Registry (# 45263206), we are ready to go.

Oh! I want to thank everyone who responded to last month's essay contest of “Why I Like Marc Gunn's Music?” I got some great responses. It was tough coming up with only five winner, so I think I will do that again in the future.

Finally, the response for “Kilted For Her Pleasure” was overwhelming, particularly at DragonCon. I haven't heard one bad comment yet about the CD. It seems to be universally enjoyed, especially my new lullaby by Daniel Glasser called “Close Your Eyes”. The daughter of Suzy the Geek of the How to Grow Your Geek Podcast commented, “That's not a lullaby!!!” (I hear it is now her new favorite song).

On with the shows and a free MP3 from the CD…

UPCOMING SHOWS

DragonCon was a blast and a huge success. Not only did we have a rousing Brobdingnagian Bards Reunion show, I had a blast sharing my newest CD with as many as I could. I gave away 1000 “Kilted For Her Pleasure” stickers to hungry kilt lovers as I played music for the hordes of people waiting in line to register for the convention. They loved the stickers And the t-shirts!

My Concourse shows drew in a bunch of new Gunn converts. At The Signal Podcast panel, I not only played my newest Firefly song “Bring Me Home, Boys” to a stunned audience. Then podcast host, Les Howard, nicknamed me “The CeltFather”. (Incidentally, The Signal Podcast won Best Speculative Fiction Fan or News Podcast in the Parsec Awards this year!)

Now I have, what… three more gigs for the year. This weekend, I'm off to Dallas for FenCon. Then I have a concert in Lafayette, LA hosted by the Folks of Acadiana. And finally, the Louisiana Renaissance Festival!

You can see my full show details at www.marcgunn.com/gigs/. But there's one other show I want to tell you about at the end of the newsletter.

Sep 18: Addison, TX – FenCon
Oct 9: Lafayette, LA – First Lutheran with the Folks of Acadiana
Nov 13-Dec 12: Hammond , LA – Louisiana Renaissance Festival

As always, if you want to see me perform in your area, please make a demand on eventful. If I can get 30 demands in a region, I'll do my best to book something in your area.

SWAN SONGS BENEFIT CONCERT AND KILTED MP3

"Kilted For Her Pleasure" CD CoverA couple years ago, I was invited to perform at one of the most-stirring events of my life thanks to Swan Songs. Through them I was asked to sing some Irish songs at a hospice for a lady was dying. The organization has asked me to play a benefit for them in Austin on September 19th.

I will join three other Austin musicians, and we will share our experiences with Swan Songs as well as play music in a round robin format. You can expect some stirring stories and of course some amazing songs. And I hope you will join me for the event.

Now I probably won't be playing the title track from my newest CD, “Kilted For Her Pleasure” (now available on Amazon), but I thought it would be nice to reestablish an old tradition of giving away a new free MP3 every month.

“Kilted For Her Pleasure” was the last song I wrote for my latest album. I asked the question, “Why do I wear a kilt?” And I found a few great answers. You can find out why when you download the song from my Celtic MP3s Music Magazine website today.

Well that's about all I have for this newsletter. I hope you have great month. I will talk to you very soon.
