Marc's Musings

Greetings <:firstname:>,

Super Bowl Sunday and I'm at home typing away on my computer. Okay, in five mintues I'm gonna lay a couple o'tracks for my cat CD.

I wasn't planning on making this CD a total solo project though. In fact, I plan to have some guest musicians. Therefore, I came up with a great name for those guest musicians. Instead of something cheesy like Marc Gunn & Friends. I decided my backup "band' would be called The Dubliners' Tabby Cats. hehe!

I even have an idea to create a website for the "band," featuring all my cats as well as the guest musicians. ;)

Speaking of cats, I'm...

Auctioning My Cat on eBay to Raise $$ for New CD

Okay, not exactly. A couple weeks ago, an artist I met on LiveJournal, Gabriela Avila, decided to draw the picture of Torre the tabby cat. Well, Tiziano was extremely jealous that she didn't make a picture of him.

I told this to Gabriela. She fixed the problem, by drawing a beautiful picture of Tiziano.

Now she's offered to sell it on eBay and donate 50% of the profits towards the creation of my Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers CD. It's now being auctioned on eBay. Check it out (read the text I added to it too, hehe) and if you're interested in some amazing original art, place a bid on it.

Pick Your Favorite Pub Photo

I had a few new pictures taken today at Mother Egan's Irish Pub in Austin. I was looking for some good kilted pictures and then started messing with ideas for a CD cover for my cat CD.

Which is your favorite picture?Click eachphoto, and then you can rate it on the webpage. Thanks!

Rockin' Celtic Excitement

I'm so psyched! I finished a new compilation CD this week for the Celtic MP3s Music Magazine. It's called The Secret World of Celtic Rock. After nearly two years of sitting on this project, I finished listening and selecting tracks for thisCD.

Before I started playing Celtic music, I was playing Rock'n'Roll. So this project isa bit close to my heart. Yeah, I still prefer traditional folk songs in the style of The Dubliners to Celtic rock, but sometimes rock music touches people in ways folk music can't.

This CD is a great example. There are some tracks that give me goose bumps! Songs from bands like Black 47, Tears for Beers, Heather Dale, The Electrics, The Elders, the list goes on and on and on. The music is just amazing.

The toughest thing really is deciding on what to include. I typically like to add The Bards to my Celtic compilations, but nothing really fit. Idecided that my definition of Celtic Rock would include a contemporary sound with a full drum kit. Well, for the most part.

Any case, I'm waiting for a response from a couple other bands before I send the CD to the printers. With 19 great tracks, I'm pretty convinced that this CD will be a hit among the Celtic and the non-Celtic music lovers. So keep an eye open for it's final release.

My kitties are purring from your friendship. So drop me a line and say, "hi!"

Marc's Lyrics & Poetry

Where Ere You Go
by Marc Gunn, January 1, 2005

I was eating in a small taverna in Venice when a loving couple inspired this love song.

Their hands reached across the table
With a smile so amiable
Her cheeks lit up the room
When her fingers reached her love's.

You can search a thousand years
For a love that will make you feel
Like the beginning of all creation
Began in her green eyes.

When you find her,
Then you blind your
Roving eye and mind her,
And the love you were designed for
Will follow you where ere you go.

Her hand leaned on her cheek
As she opened her lips to speak
The man drank every word
Like the beer he held in his hand.

I saw his search was done
When his eyes touched her tongue.
The smile they wore was one,
And I wished that it was mine.
