Marc's Musings

Greetings <:firstname:>,

Home at last and slowly catching up. No. I haven't taken care of all I let slip in October, but I'm getting there. Meanwhile, I'm happy to be home and excited about some things to come!

CAT CD MAKES THE TOP 20

October 25th was the official release date of my new CD Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers, and the album is doing spectacular. I was actually surprised when on a whim I went to the CDBaby Top Seller list and found the album listed at #12. But today, I ran out of CDs at the store, and it slipped from the list. I kinda wonder if it was there at a higher number a few days ago.

Well, no worries. On Thursday, CDBaby will receive a huge stock of CDs so you can all adopt multiple copies to give to your fellow cat lovers for Christmas.

Oh! And wow! You should see some of the reviews. They are glowing. If you have a copy too, I'd love to get your honest feedback as well. Just click the link above.

TEXAS REN FEST AND SOLO HOUSE CONCERTS IN VIRGINIA?

This weekend, we're heading to the world's largest Renaissance festival--Texas Renaissance Festival for a one weekend excursion. Our trip up to Kansas City kinda killed our ability to do more weekends sadly. But now we're back for the rest of the run. And I'm so looking forward to seeing all my friends out there.

But on other news, I decided to go to Virginia to celebrate the Christmas holiday with family. One of the exciting things about being a musician is that when I travel I can book some gigs to help cover the cost of trip.

So I'm now looking for anyone who might be interested in hosting a house concert some time between Christmas and the New Year. All I ask is for you to gather ten people to pay $10 per person, and we have a show. Or if you know of any venues in the Alexandria area, I would love to hear from you. Just drop me a line.

PET STORES INTERESTED IN CARRYING MY NEW CD?

The response of my new CD is just amazing. So if you missed Torre's request in his Cat Drinking Tails ezine, then I too would like to make a request. We need to find contact info for some local pet stores.

If you think a pet store in your area might be interested in selling the CD, could you help out? Here's how. Go down to the store and ask them if they would be interested. If so, get their contact information. Then email that info to me, and I'll make some phone calls to see if I can get it distributed in your area.

If you have a free moment, please drop me an email and say, "mreow!" Slainte!

Marc's Lyrics & Poetry

Such A Romantic
by Marc Gunn

I just got done watching Before Sunset. The movie lacks the beautiful scenery found in Before Sunrise, but what a great movie. It moves me and inspires me to dream as I did with this sappy dream-filled poem.

I'm such a romantic.

I sit here dreaming of those who got away. The ones I loved. I realize how unimportant... trivial some things were and wonder what the Hell was I thinking?

Love. It's fleeting.

Am I doomed to follow the sunset steps of misappropriated love?

Now I sit here with a cat in my lap. My only love. Or one of them. My children. Those that I wish I had. They're furrier than I hoped, but I guess this was better.

Except...

I want to travel the world. And I worry that they won't want to.

What I really want is someone to share in the adventure.
But I want to be happy in doing so. An adventurous spirit.
Heart-felt and holy in her desire to live.
Young in heart, but not bound by the trivial confines of reckless youth.

And I want to love and be loved.
That's the trick too.
Too often the overwhelming emotion eludes me.
I trickle into a torrent of unsatisfied menagerie.
Disheartened by my inability to recognize truth
In my own beating heart.

The road goes ever on
But seems too far to begin the trip.
Much easier is it to hide in my flat
And flatten my dreams.

But THIS romantic love
That haunts my light heart
And makes me quiver with delight
As I gaze into the blackened box
That holds ALL my dreams...
   Or does it?

Maybe the adventure is JUST beginning
Maybe the song has JUST begun
Maybe the smile that JUST was hidden
Will awaken tomorrow with adventures unsung.
