Marc's Musings

Marc with Jabba doing Princess Leia impressionGreetings <:firstname:>,

It's pouring in Louisiana right now. We're supposed to have a School Days event at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. But the performers I'm with are taking bets whether it'll happen or not. There's a tornado watch in effect. As for me, I'll go either way. I don't know if I'm totally in the mood for performing. But when has that ever stopped me before? Does it stop you?

NEW MUSIC AND MORE NEW MUSIC
October was a busy month for me. Not only did Andrew and I finish "The Holy Grail of Irish Drinking Songs" CD, but I was writing a lot of muse-ic. I was feeling inspired a lot last month. I wrote a couple new songs and learned a few others. You can hear them in my Pub Songs Podcast or on Myspace.

At long last, I also started recording my "Irish Drinking Songs, the Cat Lovers Companion" CD. That's the original versions of all the songs found on "Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers". Ari Koinuma, who produced the original album, is helping me to record and produce that CD. It's a little more toned down than the first one with just me, my autoharp, and Ari accompanying on guitar and whatnot, but so far it
is sounding great. When I get back to Austin, I hope to finish recording the last couple o'tracks.

INTERVIEWS AND FINAL NOTES
I've had a lot of radio interviews over the last week and more coming up. It's mind-boggling. For some mystical reason, my Cat CD made it on the newswire, and I am happily reaping the rewards.

I have actually written a lot of poetry recently. Just having difficulty sharing it. Maybe in a couple months when there's a little water under the bridge. Bridge? Hmm... Speaking of poetry... hmm...

Well, we'll save that for another day.

I hope life is treating you well. Drop me a line and let me know what's up with you. Slainte!

Marc's Lyrics & Poetry

Stomach Rumble
by Marc Gunn

We're under a tornado watch.

The sky is rather bright compared to the dark ambience.
The rain plummeting in globules on the porch outside.
It's a tornado sky. Spun and unfun.
Decadent cascades on our tin roof.
Lightening followed by the quick stomach rumble of thunder.
Electrostatic activity.
The light bulbs burb in quick succession
As the blankets get thicker on the grass.
The sky grows more foreboding.
I am not scared. But I should be.
It looks like I feel.
Trees shudder beneath the angry sky.
I shudder beneath the voices of the morning rise.
Gacked away from the impeccable silence
That is my safety and deliverance.
The storm continues to swamp the earth
While we bury ourselves beneath earth's homely refuge
Hidden in the darkness of cascading rain.
