Celtic Stories (formerly Pub Stories)

Welcome to Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. You can now hear the stories and inspiration behind the contemporary Celtic music and songs. It's called Celtic Stories.

What Are Celtic Stories?

Celtic Stories are the behind-the-scenes moments from musicians. It's the stories behind the songs. It's the stories from the road. It's the stories from live performances. It's the fun, happy, sad, funny stories that you make people fall in love with your music.

I like to think of it as a podcast for musicians who don't want to start their own podcast.

Starting a podcast is no easy feat. You don't have to do the legwork. All you need to do is record a fun, engaging story and send it my way.

Heck! You don't even have to promote yourself. That's my job.

How to Get Your Story Featured

Celtic Stories is about introducing a song in such a way that people perk up and take notice to your song. It's not just a simple, “This is a song about a mountain I climbed in Ireland.”

It's about telling the story of who was there, the emotions you felt climbing that mountain, what you experienced and how you were transformed by the climb.

Transformation is a big part of every story. How did you change from the beginning of the story to the end, and how that led to the song we're about to play.

Here's what you need to be featured:

First, record a 2-8 minute story.

It doesn't have to be long. But it needs to be a good story. Ultimately, this length doesn't matter. It's just a rule of thumb.

Don't include any promotional info about you. Just introduce yourself. Tell a great story. You want them to get emotionally invested in the song that's coming up. That's the story you tell.

Second, suggest a song to be featured.

Any music played on the podcast must be podsafe (original songs or public domain songs). You must complete the permission form (if you haven't already done so) if you are providing a recording of one of your songs. It's the same permission form I use for the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. If you already completed that form, then you're good. And you will get featured there as well.

Third, send me your promotional information.

My job is to promote you. I want you to focus on storytelling. Email me this essential promo information:

  • What's your band URL?
  • What's the album title from which the song comes?
  • Where people can buy your music?

Also include:

  • What's the link for your EPK (Electronic Press Kit)?
  • A short bio
  • High resolution photo (minimum 1500 pixels wide, 72 dpi, bigger is great)
  • Any interesting facts about the band, the album that I can use to promote on social media.

I will include only one link in the shownotes, but I will tell people more about what you want to promote. If you have something else to share, let me know. You can contact me here.

ONE MORE SONG TOO!

Ideally, I'd like to share TWO stories. One will go in the public feed. The other will be exclusive for our Patrons of the Podcast. We will still play both tracks in the regular show, but it gives listeners an extra reason to subscribe to the podcast. It also gives you an extra shout out on the show, and a way to stand out, because you have a special private feature.

Format:

  • Any format is fine (MP3, M3A, WAV)
  • Audio quality. The better it sounds, the better you sound. If all you have to record is a phone, that's fine. But I prefer a good microphone.
  • Even more important is the background sound. That should be clean without road noise or people talking in the background.

Email to me at celticpodcast at gmail. Make sure to put CELTIC STORY as the subject.

Finally, when the show goes live, feel free to share it with your fans. My hope is that THEY will find it worth listening to. I also include time stamps if they just want to listen to your story. I'm also happy to provide a custom podcast player with your time stamp so they can listen on your website. Though hopefully, they'll enjoy the entire show.

Thanks in advance. I can't wait to share your stories!

ONE MORE THING–AUDIO INTROS!

I'm looking for bands to introduce episodes of the show. It's as easy as

“This is YOUR NAME. You're listening to the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast, show NUMBER”

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Click here. Add your name, email, band name, and URL to the date you would prefer to be featured.
  2. Record your Audio Intro.
    1. WAV or MP3 is fine.
    2. Name it: “533 – Band Name”
  3. Contact me for details on how to introduce an episode.

Thanks again! I can't wait to promote you!
