CELTIC MYTHS AND LEGENDS PODCAST: BRETON IANNIC-ANN-ÔD

Review: Eimear McBride – The City Changes its Face
- IN one of the most scathing contemporary assessments of James Joyce’s ‘Ulysses’ – for it was by no means received with the kind of presupposed universal acclaim it enjoys today – Virginia Woolf described the book as ‘egotistic, insistent, raw, striking, and ultimately nauseating’.
- Thankfully for Eimear McBride, her new novel ‘The City Changes its Face’ avoids these trappings deftly. Despite her narrative style tending towards interiority – the protagonist Eilish is something of a shut-in – the stream-of-consciousness McBride imbues her characters with feels expansive, time-dilating, supple and ultimately earned.
Jock's Celtic Calamity: Show No 531
- Thulbion, Herkja, Amy Laurenson, John Flanagan, Baka Beyond, Hannah Rarity, Hò-rò, Colcannon, Richard Wood, The Fretless, Ciaran Ryan, Seo Linn, The Hackles, Lily Honigberg, Caitlín & Ciarán, Beth Malcolm, Ahlberg, Ek & Roswall, Ulrika Boden, Frigg, Tim Edey, Eli West, Project Smok, Foghorn Stringband, Heal & Harrow, Chris Stout, Ross Couper Band, Alan Kelly Gang
KEEP OUR COOL AMIDST TRUMP TARIFF TURMOIL, SAYS FM
- Wales' first minister has urged businesses and politicians to “keep our cool” as turmoil continues to hit world markets following US President Trump's tariff hike.
- Eluned Morgan told BBC Wales Today it was a “very unsettling time” for Welsh firms and pledged to work with them to “mitigate the very difficult circumstances”.
SEA KINGS OF THE ISLE OF MAN FEATURED ON NEW STAMP COLLECTION

Issued by the Isle of Man Post Office, the collection features six dramatic scenes from the era of the Norse-Gaelic “Sea Kings,” illustrated by Manx artist Juan Moore and researched by Professor R. Andrew McDonald of Brock University.
- During the High Middle Ages, the Isle of Man and the Hebridean islands off the west coast of Scotland were forged into remarkable maritime realms known as the Kingdoms of Man and the Isles. At their greatest extent, these kingdoms stretched from the Calf of Man to the Butt of Lewis.
