Then you mentioned hearing from someone in Antarctica. Not sure how many ice people you've heard from, but I DID document your mention of friend Nathan Greenland at the South Pole in 2009 (show #76) as Nathan and I exchanged emails about it.”

James Heald emailed a couple years ago: “I'm a fan of history, and was listening to #138 of Irish and Celtic Music podcast. I found “Holy City.” Backtracked to listen to it three times while looking up the story behind the song, as it made no mention of the city's name. I searched for River Clyde, and found Clydebank and the story of a German bombing raid in March 1941. “Holy City” is about that bombing. The song about the 51st Highlanders at the beach at St. Valeri and your cover of Killerkrankie also led to websearches, as I wanted to know more. Thank you for sharing those songs.

It is said that the Irish are famous for tragic love and glorious war. Have you used the theme of “all's fair in love and war” as a subject for the program? And has there ever been a song written about the Wild Geese, the Irish men who fought as mercenaries throughout Europe? Or any song written from the point of view of Confederate Irishmen who had to kill Irishmen of the Irish Brigade at Marye's Heights during the first Battle of Fredricksburg during the American Civil War?
