18 years ago, on July 8, 2005, I quit my day job to be a full-time musician.
I had three more fantastic years with Andrew McKee and Brobdingnagian Bards before we split up and reunited in 2018 for more great shows and albums.
I released over 20 solo albums since then. I collaborated with a ton of musicians like Sam Gillogly, Nathan Deese, Daniel I Briggs, Randy Wothke of The Rogues, Jamie Haeuser, and Mikey Mason to name just a few of the ones I’ve done a lot with. I created super successful shows at sci fi conventions (Firefly Drinking Songs, Hobbit Drinking Songs, Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers).
I started my Celtic Invasion Vacations and have repeatedly traveled Europe with some amazing people who trust me to create exciting new adventure every year.
I started podcasting with Renaissance Festival Podcast, Pub Songs & Stories and then my multi-award-winning Irish & Celtic Music Podcast with big thanks to Miranda Nelson, Mitchell Petersen and Todd Wiley.
Best of all, quitting my job lead me to meeting the Love of My Life Gwen Gisiner Gunn at a house concert in Reston, Virginia in 2009. Now we have two amazing, talented, kind, generous children.
I am truly blessed. Thank you for being a part of my 18-year journey to fulfill my dream of making a living as a musician.
A HUGE thanks to all of my Patreon supporters who are the backbone of funding my career. Your kindness and generosity allow me to keep making new music and podcasts.
Music is a weird career. Pay at venues hasn't gone up at all in the 20+ years I've been doing shows. CD sales declined. Streaming music grew a little bit. It doesn't make a solid living. But the kindness of people on Patreon make a huge impact on my livelihood. I can make a living and help support my family doing something I love. It's not easy. And it's not much. But it helps immensely. It allows me to follow my dreams.
Thank you all a million times over, whether your Patreon supporter, buy merch on Kickstarter, or just regularly shop in my store, give a tip, or even just listen and tell a friend. Thank you!
Thank you so much for you all of your generosity. Slainte!
