My weekends fly by too quickly. This past one, I was at I-Con Science Fiction Convention on Long Island. It was the first Sci Fi convention I ever went to. This year, I was named Performance Guest of Honor. That honor really rang home in the ceremony when I was presented a plaque for all the music I've provided the convention since I started attending it in 2001.
Sometimes, you never know how much your music affects someone or even an organization until they pull you aside and say, “thank you”. Until that happens, you can only hope you make an impact. Nine years later, I found dozens of wonderful fans and friends gathered at my shows to sing-along with me and share my love of music. I just hope the rest of my life is so fortunate.
In the meantime, I have a few last minute adds to my schedule. This Friday, I'll be at Things Celtic in Austin at 4pm sharing music from my latest CD in a free concert. Then over the weekend, I'll be back at Sherwood Forest Faire for it's final weekend. I head up the following Saturday to the mountains north of Birmingham, Alabama for the 1st Annual Scots Irish Festival, presented by the Alabama Celtic Association.

CD of the Week: The Green Knight by Heather Dale. A lively and affectionate look at medieval life, with 14 catchy new songs. Features harp, bodhran drum, mandolin, world percussion and Irish flutes, all played by Heather and her bandmates Ben Deschamps & Jason Sonier.
There and Back Again: YOUR Tale. They did it! They finally announced the return of the experience of a lifetime. In 2008, a bunch of Lord of the Rings fans decided to keep the passion of JRR Tolkien's books alive by hosting a reenactment of Bilbo Baggin's Birthday, called A Long Expected Party (read the review). My old band, the Brobdingnagian Bards were hired to perform at this event. I was unprepared at how amazing the weekend would be. We had three days of music, storytelling, workshops, adventures, all culminating in Bilbo's magical disappearance. It was amazing. And it's back. In 2011, A Long Expected Party returns, and once again, I will be there performing with a new band named The Band Sidhe. If you love Lord of the Rings as much as I do, this is an event that You Should Not Miss!
Pub Songs Podcast: Return of the iPod Shuffle. The recent iPod shuffle experiment was a wonderful success. So I think I'm gonna keep it going. There's a couple new episodes since last I wrote here. Many more coming!
