Today's show is brought to you by Celtic Invasion Vacations
Every year, I take a small group of Celtic music fans to exotic locations around the world. We don’t travel in big tour buses and see everything. Instead, we stay in one area. We get to Know the region through its culture, history, and legends. Plus, I bring you some great Celtic music by me and other Celtic artists. You can help me decide where we are going in 2017. Tilly48 wrote on iTunes: “Marc Gunn does a wonderful job of creating these podcasts. Love the music, like the comments and appreciate the singers, bands and talents in this musical genre. This is my only podcast subscription but I love it so much I am a proud patron. Keep it up!”
Jan Czenkusch wrote in the shownotes: “For a podcast on All Is Fair In Love and War be sure to look to Jed Marum. You know he has several songs on the Irish during the Civil War, especially Confederate.”
John E Thompson emailed: “I just listened to the Irish and Celtic music podcast show 257. Fantastic! You had three of my favorite bands: the Kilmaine Saints (from Harrisburg, PA area), and Rathkeltair and Albannach recorded live. There's really nothing like live music and the Rath ‘n the ‘Nach track gives you a taste of just how awesome it is when these great bands collaborate. The audience just goes crazy. I've been lucky enough to see it.
I did want to point out one important thing. The Rath ‘n the ‘Nach track comes from the Rathkeltair and Friends CPR compilation cd as you said. The CPR stands for Celtic Pink Ribbon. This is a fantastic program in which various celtic music artists (mostly independent ones — many you've played on the podcast) donate some tracks for the Celtic Pink Ribbon cds. The proceeds from all these cd sales goes to breast cancer awareness and research. Here's a link for more info: http://www.celticpinkribbon.com/”
Manuel Ignacio Balaguera Jimenez in Bogotá, Colombia emailed: “Every day I listen your amazing webRadio. Thanks very much for giving us the pleasure to meet some of the magic Irish culture.”
Randy emailed: “I've listened to your podcast for years and. . . . I've never commented before. My wife and I have a favorite pub that we attend on a regular basis – especially so on music nights. Even now when our grown sons come home, they have to make a trip to the pub with Mom & Dad!! It has given us life long friends just by asking strangers to enjoy the music with us.
On a recent night my wife and I were able to enjoy, and be up close with, The John Byrne Band. What a great night. In our conversation at the end of the night, I let John know I had heard them on your podcast. We brought home two of their CDs and are looking forward to their next visit to our area. Anyhow, thanks for playing John's music along with all the other talented people whose music you share with us.”
