“A Celtic Christmas” Compilation Launched on Kickstarter

I know it's a little early to be thinking about Christmas, but if I'm gonna adequately promote a Celtic Christmas album, I need to get the word out now and raise money thru kickstarter. Check it out at http://celticmusicpodcast.com/kickstarter

Every time I hold a Kickstarter, I gonna freak out. I get scared that I won't meet my goals. Or I feel nervous about starting another Kickstarter, while I'm still trying to fulfill the first!

With Christmas music, I have no choice. I actually meant to hold the Kickstarter in August, but time got away with me. I was too busy working on the Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion to think about this Christmas compilation.

Fortunately, I got a lot of work done this past week. So I loaded up all the info for the Christmas compilation and forged ahead to see where I was. Almost everything was in place. I just had a few tracks to pick and a few WAVs to await. So I plunged ahead!

When I came up, I decided to rename the album… again… It was called Keep the Celtic in Christmas. It is now called A Celtic Christmas. Right now, I have 17 tracks from a bunch of incredible bands. That includes my recording of “Christmas in Scotland” and the Brobdingnagian Bards recording of “Bog Down in Christmas”. You can see all of the tracks listed here. I may add another track depending on how things go.

In the meantime, I launched the Kickstarter yesterday. The goal of the Kickstarter is threefold:

  1. Raise money to pay for the production of the album.
  2. Get people excited about the compilation. Create buzz.
  3. Hire a publicist.

The last one is what I want the most. You see, I can do a lot to promote an album. I have the Celtic Music Magazine, the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast, and numerous other Celtic websites to promote the compilation and get these bands extra visibility. I also have a nice list of radio stations and magazines that will play and review this compilation. Maybe it's a pipe dream, but I believe a publicist can do more for the compilation with press and radio than I can.

So yes, I would LOVE it if you would support the Kickstarter. Please make a pledge. But even more than that, I would LOVE it if you will help spread the word. Help me create buzz. Talk it up. Share it with your friends.

If they need samples, they can hear most of this music in the Celtic Christmas Podcast.
