A Celtic Music Festival of Thanks for Gunn Runners

COVER - Ultimate Celtic Geek Songs

I love Celtic music. However, I have no delusions. My music is not for the typical Celtic music fan. I won't have a PBS special any time soon, wearing formal Scottish attire and having a puffed out chest while an orchestra backs my autoharp. At the end of this year, I will have two albums of totally traditional Irish and Scottish songs available which will attract some of those typical Celtic music fans to my website. When they arrive, they will see I'm not a typical Celtic musician. I play an autoharp. I sing songs about cats, Firefly, hobbits, and Doctor Who. Most of those visitors will turn around and say, “I'll find something else”.

For the exceptional, the fun, the twisted, demented, for those who don't step in time to what everyone else does, those people will listen further and fall in love with my music. They will become Gunn Runners.

To you, I want to say thanks! Thank you for taking the time to listen to my music. Thank you for sharing it with your friends and bring them into the demented fold. Thank you for turning it up to 11. Thank you for geeking out with me over things the “normal” people find to be “weird”.

It is for you than I first started thinking about CelticCon, a convention that folds the universe of Celtic culture and Sci Fi together. As I explored this concept, I realized that I really don't want to start a convention per se for the masses. I want something that's different. That's as bizarre as my Sci Fi Drinking Songs concept or kilts, Firefly, dragons and cats all spoken in the same breath. I want to create something that celebrates the Gunn Runners like you.

So over in my Celtic Geeks facebook page, I introduced a new festival idea the Intergalactic Celtic Festival. I think that is the idea I wanted to express with CelticCon, a festival wear Gunn Runners can come together, hear some music, geek out…

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure what would make this the ultimate Gunn Runner festival. I'd like to know your thoughts.

What (specifically) would you travel around the world to see from such an event?

What would make this the coolest event in the galaxy?

Feel free to throw out any crazy ideas you have. I'd love to hear them. If you're interested in brainstorming further, or helping to organize the event, let me know either on the Celtic Geeks page or email me. I'd love your thoughts.
