Have you bought a copy of Selcouth yet?
There are several options in my store:
- Get the digital album on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon Music or wherever you buy music.
- Buy a physical CD. This is like the ultimate musician's horcrux. You'll get a digital copy as well.
- Buy the Stories & Songbook. This is a booklet that includes lyrics to every song on the album. Plus, you can read stories behind the music. And of course, you'll get a digital copy of the album.
- Buy the sticker. Are you Selcouth too? Show your colors with this beautiful sticker.
You can buy all of these items and more in the Mage Records store on Bandcamp. Use your coupon code to save 15%.
Your purchase says, “Please keep making new music!”
Now let's see the view from Tintagel…
Tintagel was a small village on the Northern coast of Cornwall. In Arthurian legend, this is where the Duke of Cornwall sent is wife Igraine while he went off to war. Merlin disguised Uther Pendragon as the Duke and impregnated Igraine. Their child would eventually become King Arthur.
The original village and castle were set high up on the peninsula of Tintagel Island. There's nothing but glorious ruins now.
WHAT'S NEW
My blog is lit up with news. I have lots of features on Celtic bands in the Atlanta area. I also have an Irish drinking songs blog series that's running. But here's the big news.
- Buy Local – What does that even mean?
- CD Release Party Tonight in Lawrenceville, GA
- Selcouth Progress – What's different?
- St Patrick's Day
- Upcoming Shows
If you want to see what else is new, read on…
BUY LOCAL: WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?
I posted a new feature called “Buy Local” on Pub Songs & Stories. I realized that local has many different meanings. Yes, it can mean buy from your community where you live. I'm a big fan of that.
In fact, that's one of the reasons the new podcast feature is highlighting a Local brewery, The Lost Druid. It's really close to me, and I love their diverse selection of beers and now also seltzers (you've not had a seltzer until you try theirs).
But Local can also mean… well me. What is your online community? Who are Your people? They can just as easily be Local to you.
I started an Atlanta Celtic Music series on my blog at the start of the year. I'm highlighting Celtic musicians who live in and around Atlanta. But I also host the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. Celtic musicians are also a big part of my Local community.
However, I'm also a geek. So some time in the future, I'm gonna highlight some of my geeky musical friends and businesses. Those are all LOCAL to me.
So first, who is a part of your local community?
Who can you support by buying local today?
CD RELEASE PARTY TONIGHT IN LAWRENCEVILLE
My third and final CD Release Party is tonight at Ironshield Brewing in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
I'm excited, but I'm also ready feeling the pinch of St Patrick's Day. I have several shows scheduled leading up to the holiday. Plus, there's all of the podcasts that I'm working on.
I keep getting excited and overzealous. Perhaps I can do even more to promote myself. Like release the next Pub Songs & Stories BEFORE the 14th and a bonus show. Or record a concert as a podcast (which might happen). Or perhaps I can do a daily episode of The Celtfather podcast.
I have to reel myself back in every time. I have so many projects I need to work on. And I still have a new CD to promote. I've only sent it to one media place.
In the meantime, I will focus on a great show tonight at Ironshield.
SELCOUTH PROGRESS – WHAT'S DIFFERENT?
I've gotten pretty good at promoting albums BEFORE they come out. But with every release I have a big challenge. How do I promote an album AFTER it comes out.
I never know what to do. I never have a plan. Even after releasing over 30 albums.
Selcouth is already a wee bit different.
I scheduled Singles to be released. The entire first season of Pub Songs & Stories highlights the stories behind the songs from the album. I had actual CD Release parties, something I haven't had in probably a decade. I'm actually talking up the album in newsletters and other podcasts.
Yeah. There's still a LOT more I can do. But so far the hype seems to be working. I'm getting a few sales every few days. It's not huge. But it's something.
UPCOMING SHOWS – ST PATRICK'S DAY SCHEDULE
I find myself writing newsletters a little less often right now. I'm spending a bit more time blogging or writing shownotes for podcasts. I'm fine with that. But I have a bunch of shows scheduled. This list also doesn't include my weekly Coffee with The Celtfather shows.
MAR 5. Bold Monk Brewing Co., Atlanta, GA @ 1:00 – 4:00 PM ET
MAR 10. St Patrick's Day Livestream @ 8 PM ET.
MAR 12: Ironshield Brewing in Lawrenceville, GA @ 4:00 – 7:00 PM.
MAR 13: Three Taverns Brewery, Decatur, GA @ 4:00-7:00 PM
MAR 25-27: MidSouthCon, Memphis, TN
APR 2-3, 9-10: Sherwood Forest Faire, Paige, TX
In addition, there's an episode of Pub Songs & Stories planned and a very special St Patrick's Day edition of the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast that you don't want to miss!
I hope to see your smiling face at one of these fun events.
Slainte!
