Can’t Stop the Serenity in Birmingham?

This message is for all my Browncoat friends in Birmingham.  Last summer at PlayOnCon, I created a website, mailing list and facebook page for the Birmingham Browncoats.  I hope to bring all the Firefly fans together, but admittedly, organization is not my strong suit.  So far, the group has been mostly inactive.

However, I was chatting with a fellow Browncoat in Virginia.  He's organizing a Can't Stop the Serenity event up there.  That's a fundraiser done by Firefly fans to raise money for Equality Now, Joss Whedon's favorite charity.

I'd LOVE to put on such an event.  But it requires time, effort, and people to help organize and promote it.  I'm great at online promotion.  I'm great at bringing people together.  I'm not so great at organizing people and events.  That's where I need help.

So if you live in Birmingham, and you're a Firefly fan, or just want to help out a great charity, would you be interested in a showing of “Serenity” or “Dr Horrible” or maybe even just a small fundraiser with music?

If so, would you be interested in helping to organize and promote such an event?

If it's gonna happen, we need to get this rolling soon.  I was thinking we could do this in late July or early August.  What do you think?  Email me or post in our Birmingham Firefly Fans facebook page.

Slainte!
