Celtfather Monthly October 2023

I’m feeling a little bit nervous. Tomorrow, Mikey Mason and I record our next In the ‘Verse podcast. This one is on the last episode of the first season of the Mandalorian.

I’m enjoying the Mandalorian. But the show does run slow, like most of the Disney Star Wars TV shows. It’s also really simple. Picking out a theme was difficult. It just doesn’t have the impact that I found in Firefly, Lord of the Rings and Doctor Who.

I’m worried I’m gonna have a tough time writing a song inspired by the episode.

I will pull through though. And everyone who supports me on Patreon will still get a download of whatever comes out of this, as usual.

I hope we both enjoy it. LOL

NERDY WONDERLAND

Once again, it’s October and I’m thinking about December. LOL. I have to if I want to have any shows in December.

That’s why I’m starting Nerdy Wonderland: A Holiday Market at The Lost Druid Brewery on Sunday, December 3. I am currently looking for vendors with nerdy gifts, preferably handmade.

If you’re interested in shopping, or listening to my music, please follow the Nerdy Wonderland event page. Share it with a friend.

You’ll also find a way to apply to be a vendor on that page at the bottom.

NEW MUSICAL PIN – STAR TREK PINT GLASS

I am extremely pleased to announce that there is a brand new Musical Pin that is now in my store. This one is themed for my Sci Fi Drinking Songs album with a special nod to my song “Romulan Ale”. It features a pint glass with a Star Trek logo at the bottom of the glass.

Hmm. All of a sudden, that makes me think of those British sailor conscription songs. I can’t remember a particular song, but it’s where a British officer would go into a pub and buy someone a drink.  They dropped money at the bottom of the beer. When the person finished drinking the beer and took the money, they were conscripted into the British Navy.

I don’t remember where I heard that story. But it was the inspiration for my “Celtic Christmas Elf” song. Let me know if you have any song examples of this.

Any case, go pick up your Musical Pin on Friday, October 6. That is Bandcamp Friday. Bandcamp waves all their fees so we make a few extra bucks on this one day.

You can also get the “May the Bards Be With You” musical pin, in the Bards Store.

ASHLEY DAVIS BAND INTERVIEW

Finally, I hope you listen to this week’s Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. I interviewed Ashley Davis since she is playing at IrishFest Atlanta, of which the podcast is a sponsor.

It was really cool talking with Ashley, who has a very non-typical entry into traditional Irish music. It is a much more like my own.

Enjoy the interview and all the fine music!

GUNN RUNNERS CLUB ON PATREON

Support what you love.

That's what Patreon is all about. It's a simple way to join a fan club or just support your favorite musician on a monthly basis so that we can keep making a living with our music.

I'll be quite honest. I don't know I have 155 people who support my music. It's weird. It's progressive and new. It's different from mainstream music. It's different from the music you've listened to all of your life. And yet, so many people still listen to it. Some are even hardcore Gunn Runners.

My Gunn Runners pledge at least $5 per month, sometimes more (sometimes less) to just support me as a musician. It's incredible. I am ever grateful even if I don't feel like I deserve it.

I am truly blessed. Thank you Gunn Runners!
