Celtic Invasions of Star Wars and Celtic Origins

The Celtic Invasion of the Isle of Skye was a tremendous success. These vacations get better each year, I do believe. The scenery was exquisite. There was good music. There was good food and great company.

I recorded a lot of video and took a bunch of pictures. I’ll be sharing them all in the coming months.

You can read my blog on the Skye Itinerary Page. And it's now mobile-ready. W00t!

I finally made a decision regarding the next two invasions.

I started Celtic Invasion Vacations in 2009. The first was in Tuscany in Italy. The second was in the fall in Dingle.

The 10-year anniversary Invasion will take us back to Dingle on the southwest peninsula of Ireland. I’m loosely calling it the Celtic Invasion of Star Wars because one of the places I want to go is Skellig Michael. It was featured in The Last Jedi.

I will start accepting applications for next year's CIV in August or September.

When most people thing of the Celts, they think of the seven Celtic nations: Ireland Scotland, Brittany, Cornwall, Wales, Isle of Man, and Galicia. But the Celts were one of the invading barbarian tribes that gave the Roman Empire so much trouble. They traveled throughout Europe. I’ve learned a lot about the early Celtic tribes over the past few years.

So I’m calling 2020 the Origins of Celtic Invasions. We’re going to the Veneto in Italy.

We will gonna explore some famous sites of northeast Italy. Plus, we will visit some historical Celtic landmarks. That includes the seafaring city conquered by Celts, the city of Venice.

This whole region is called the Veneto. It was named after one of the strong Celtic tribes, the Veneti. They later migrated to Brittany before fleeing north to Cornwall, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland.

My mom lives in the Veneto. I'm particularly excited about this trip for all of the wonderful places I visited when she moved there in 1985. But I'm also excited to explore the Celtic heritage of the Veneto. It's gonna be awesome!

I look forward to sharing more with you in the coming weeks about both of these Invasions.

If you have any questions, let me know.
Slainte!
