In 2007, I recorded a vanity project called “A Tribute to Love“. I didn't honestly expect that the album would sell terribly well, and it didn't. People who know my music love my comedy or my traditional Celtic songs, but love songs…?
And this was more than just an album of sappy love songs. It was a… tribute to love, in all its various forms. I even had a love song for my cat.
The recordings were non-traditional too. I used a lot of effects. I had fun creating that album. Ever since then, I've wanted to release an album of Celtic love songs for Valentine's Day. I finally decided to compile some of my favorite love songs onto one CD. The album is called “Celtic Love“.
I just finished compiling the tracks for the album and I spent the other night listening. I had a beautiful time.
Here's the track list:
- Peggy Gordon
- Gypsy Rover
- Wild Mountain Thyme
- When She Held Me in Her Arms
- The Lady of Setliff Manor
- Star of the County Down
- The Bridge
- Black Is the Color
- Mairi's Wedding
- Purple Flower
- Green Grow the Rashes
Right now, I'm just waiting to get the album graphics back from my friend James McDaniel II. Then it will be off to CD Baby and Kunaki. It will be for sale both as a digital download and as a full CD.
You'll note that there are two new recordings on the CD. They will eventually be put on my Adventures in Rhythm & Folk album. But that's out some other day…
