SCOTTISH WHISKY & HIKING
- Taste Scottish whisky and hike off the whisky in some of Scotland's grand locations. To that end, we will fly into Inverness. Drive through Speyside, past Edinburgh into the Lowlands before making our way back up to the Highlands. We will hit at least three of the Scottish whisky regions with this plan. But it's not just about the whisky. It's also about the hiking. We will spend 1-2 hours in between tastings to hike local sites, take pictures, and soak up the countryside.

PUB SONGS & STORIES #286: THE LEPRECHAUN, BUILDING SHERWOOD FOREST FAIRE CASTLE
- The modern image of the leprechaun is very different from the leprechaun of Irish legends. But times change and not everyone adapts as easily. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t celebrate both the new and the old as we explore the origins of my song “The Leprechaun.”

TRAVELLING IN IRELAND – AFTERNOON TEA IN IRELAND
- One of the first things you'll notice in Ireland is that there is always a hot water kettle available for a cup of tea. Every hotel, and most B&Bs, provide a kettle, tea bags and instant coffee, and often a biscuit, for an easy afternoon pick-me-up or evening refresher. As a tea drinker I much prefer this over the coffee makers you find in hotel rooms across the US.
FATHER OF DÁITHÍ MAC GABHANN, WHO INSPIRED CHANGE IN TRANSPLANT LAWS, RECOGNISED IN KING'S BIRTHDAY HONOURS LIST
- THE FATHER of Dáithí Mac Gabhann, the young boy who successfully fronted a campaign to change Northern Ireland's transplant laws, has been awarded an MBE.
- Máirtín Mac Gabhann was recognised in the King's Birthday Honours List for services to organ donation in Northern Ireland.
- He said that he hoped accepting the award would increase awareness about the need for organ donation.

WILD TING: WHY A CHATTEL HOUSE NOW SITS ON A MANICURED SCOTTISH LAWN
- Two years in the making, and drawing on themes of healing, the slave trade and even Vikings, the latest show by Alberta Whittle, who represented Scotland at Venice, has taken over a grand mansion on a holiday isle.
- On the sweeping manicured grounds of Mount Stuart, a neo-gothic stately home on the Scottish Isle of Bute, sits a most incongruous sight: a bright yellow and green Caribbean chattel house. It’s the creation of Barbadian-Scottish artist Alberta Whittle, who had originally planned to build a bothy to welcome visitors, recognising that the imposing mansion could pose a barrier.
