FOLK ON FOOT: SANDRA KERR (AND NANCY KERR) IN WARKWORTH
- The beloved baggy cloth cat Bagpuss is fifty years old in 2024. We celebrate his birthday by visiting Sandra Kerr at her home in the Northumberland village of Warkworth. Sandra co-wrote and arranged the music for the series and provided some of the voices. In her cosy music room she shows us her Bagpuss souvenirs, reflects on the show’s enduring appeal and sings one of the songs.

- A TELEVISION series which explores lesser-known traditional Irish music strongholds returns this week with a vibrant opening episode from London.
- TG4's Ceolaireacht, which means ‘musical wanderings’ in Irish, is led by presenter Doireann Ní Ghlacáin.
- In it, the fiddle-player takes her bicycle and sets off across Ireland – and further afield – to find the finest purveyors of trad music, who may not be where we expect to find them.

OLDEST KNOWN SCOTTISH TARTAN ‘BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE’ FOR PEOPLE TO WEAR
- The oldest known piece of true tartan ever found, which was discovered in a peat bog, has been recreated by experts.
- Uncovered about 40 years ago in a bog in Glen Affric in the Highlands, the tartan underwent rigorous testing last year to confirm it was the oldest surviving true piece of the traditional patterned cloth.
WREXHAM: BOOK-LOVING BOY READS TO CARE HOME RESIDENTS
- A book-loving five-year-old has brought joy to care home residents by reading his favourite stories to them.
- Harri, five, spends his free time after school reading to residents in Pendine Park's Highfield care home in Wrexham.
- His mum Laura said it was his love of reading that inspired her to bring the book fanatic to the care home where she works.
BELFAST CHIPPERS PROVIDE BACKDROP FOR NEW BBC COMEDY SERIES
- A COMEDY series filmed in Belfast sees a group of comedian friends tour the city’s top chip shops.
- Comedians In Chippies Getting Fatter is led by comedian Ciarán Bartlett, who takes his long-time pals and fellow funny folk, Shane Todd, Diona Doherty, William Thompson and Colin Murphy, to visit some of his favourite eateries in Belfast.
