The other podcast we feature are The Scottish History Podcast and Copperplate Time. The articles highlighted are about a new book showing the history of Ireland through photos, 7 things to do in Cardiff for Easter, and St Patrick. The spotlighted festival is the 14th Annual Tartan South Highland Games and Celtic Festival taking place March 27 -29, with a special kickoff concert on Thursday by 48 Fables. WHO WAS ST. PATRICK?
- Patrick was a fifth century bishop who is credited with spreading Christianity across Ireland. One of his religion’s most widely known figures, the patron saint of Ireland is honored annually across the globe on St. Patrick’s Day.
- But for all of St. Patrick’s prevalence in culture—namely the holiday held on the day of his death—his life remains somewhat of a mystery. Many of the stories traditionally associated with St. Patrick, including the famous account of his banishing all the snakes from Ireland, are false, the products of hundreds of years of exaggerated storytelling.

TARTAN DAY SOUTH 14TH ANNUAL HIGHLAND GAMES & CELTIC FESTIVAL
- Tartan Day South honors the Celtic culture and heritage in South Carolina’s Midlands region. The traditions of the United Kingdom – Ireland, Scotland and England are showcased. The main event is in Cayce at the Historic Columbia Speedway on Saturday. Other free and paid events are held in West Columbia, Cayce and The event is held to benefit the nonprofit River Alliance, which strives to connect people to our rivers – Broad, Saluda and Congaree – while protecting these bodies of water.
