FAIRY FORTS AND CHANGELINGS

Are Irish fairies REAL? And if so, could there be Sí folk living in New England?? Fiddle player Martin Hayes, singer Emily Smith, and storyteller Máirtín de Cógáin help me and this month’s co-producer Nigel Heaton investigate songs, stories, and possible gateways to the Otherworld.

WHY “CELTIC MUSIC?”

Traditional Irish musicians get a little nervous when I say I play “Celtic music”. That’s because the term was taken over in the 80s by Celtic New Age artists.

Even though Enya was my introduction to “Celtic music” years ago, I have obviously found new direction. In fact, one of the reasons I continue to use the term is that I believe it is more appropriate for the music we all enjoy. Because it showcases the diverse styles of Celtic music.

This is the music of the Celts!

My goal in using that term is to take back “Celtic music” from the major labels and New Age artists and to properly showcase Celtic music in all its forms.

We all know what we mean when we say “Celtic music”. So use the term with pride. And if someone has a question, send them over to CelticMusicPodcast.com.

  • Shannon Heaton published an episode called “The C-Word” on her Irish Music Stories podcast.
  • What is Celtic Music is an article I published on the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast website.

JOIN THE INVASION OF CELTIC ORIGINS

Next June, Celtic Invasion Vacations is going to the Veneto in Italy. You see, the Celts once resided in the Veneto. There was a tribe called the Veneti that eventually settled in Brittany before being run off the continent onto the British Isles.

You can learn more about the HIstory of Celtic Brittany here and the Secret History of the Celts.

Sadly, we’ve not found any Celtic artifacts in the Veneto. But my mom lives there. I love the region. I want to share it with you in June 2020.

The official itinerary will be up soon. In the meantime, subscribe to the Celtic Invasion Vacations mailing list so you don’t miss this incredible Celtic Invasion.
