For me, Kickstarter is about raising money for physical merch, things like CDs and album pins. Those things cost a lot of money. The upfront payment is necessary.

So if you like owning CDs, you should definitely support this.

But it's also for album pins. These lapel pins allow you to wear your album on your sleeve. You have something to talk about with strangers. “You should check out this album.”
