A couple weeks ago, the question came up, who do people like my music? So to answer the question, I went to my fans through my podcast, newsletter, twitter and facebook to tell what it is about my music that inspires them. I got some great responses just days before the release of my newest CD Kilted For Her Pleasure.
So first let me thank EVERYONE who so kindly responded to my request. I loved all of your responses. However, I could only pick five. And these are the winners.
Remember. The new CD comes out officially on Monday, August 16, 2010. Order your copy this Monday! Oh and tell a friend.

Marc Gunn is gifted with the ability, through his music and song, the universal language, to communicate into the depths of the Soul and take the Spirit on a momentary vacation of various delightful levels from fun to ethereal…. take the time to be enthralled and to travel with Marc on the many Journeys between heartfelt laughter, with his comedic antics, through the heavenly highs of meditation with his astonishing instrumentals….allow his music and song to open your imagination to remarkable and fascinating adventures of your own choosing….Enjoy….
Nicole Fox in Colorado added:
I have not been graced with the ability for a musical appreciation of any great depth. However, I am able to state the impressions that have struck me and what I have ascertained from listening to Marc Gunn's music with deep admiration.
Marc Gunn's genius begins with his eclectic taste in gathering the strands with which he weaves. Then it continues with his talent for creating a tartan that is simultaneously familiar and unique. He concludes his creative process with a performance that is endlessly soothing and always amusing. He is often captured by a muse that others would fail to appreciate.
The lyrics of ‘Tiziano Gunn' offer a glimpse of a mind that is clearly an astute observer of the enigma that is the feline. As the servant to many furry little enigmas, it was blatantly obvious to me that this constantly present muse has been long neglected by musicians and I express my gratitude to Mr. Gunn for rectifying that oversight.
I am unable to reach the end of ‘When Kitty Eyes are Smiling' without realizing that I have inadvertently started smiling regardless of my previous emotions. The perspicacity evidenced by his lyrics is married with the emotion that exudes from his voice and gives birth to the fleeting image of an internal universe. This is a universe that I would gladly inhabit regardless of the occupants.
Nevertheless, I am constantly pleased by those he invites in for visits. The Doctor is my favorite guest, but I am also very fond of Red Dwarf's Cat or the glorious strains of Buttercup's haunting lament. I share my husband's fondness for listening to Marc Gunn's kilted creations. These songs exemplify the heart of why I love Marc Gunn's music. It is simply stated as his wicked wit.

I like everything about Marc Gunn's music. Mainly because first of all, I am a bagpiper of 7 years, which obviously means I adore Celtic music. I march in a pipe and drum band doing parades and events all year. Celtic music is the best part of my life and I love being able to find artists like Marc to enjoy and who I can relate to.
There are so many bands out there right now playing covers of Irish tunes, but most of the time they change everything but the words and it does not even sound like the original song. Marc is able to keep the tunes traditional but fun and refreshing. Which is great, because most Irish music has been played over again and again so to be able to hear them stand out and hold their own without all the distortion is really something.
Oh yes, and I LOVE cats…they are my favorite. If you ask me you cannot get anything better than that! Thanks for keeping it real Marc!

I like Marc Gunn's music because it is different from what we hear on the radio today. His music can be defined in many ways but to sum it up short, let me just say his music is inspirational for cat lovers. It is not every day you hear a song about cats just out of the blue, on the radio, in a store, even a song on a CD playing in a CD player. His music isn't just about cats though, it is about life, about love, about just anything that just comes to mind.
Marc Gunn has some songs about Drinking Beer, but most of the songs I heard about drinking are about the sadness and the heartaches you have and that is why your drinking. Marc Gunn adds a twist to drinking songs, he makes both the lyrics and the music fun to listen to, so any negative things about drinking or why your drinking beer is non existent in Marc's world.
Marc just has fun with what he does, you can feel his emotion in his songs, you basically get to feel what he felt when he wrote it. He does parodies of some older Celtic songs but he always makes the music his own. He reinvents Celtic music. His music can be rough, it can be smooth, it can have energy, and it can have mood, and to top all of that it is high quality music.
After all I have said just now, I would like to add the main reason why I like his music is the fact he sings about cats and I am a big cat lover and I always thought maybe there is someone that will one day come around that will take a great interest in writing and singing songs about our feline friends and here he is. I also would like to say in my opinion his music is Purr-fect for anyone who is such a big cat lover like me. I just wanted to let Marc know just how much I love his music and why I think his music is so unique compared to other artists.
Finally, Amanda Bullard in Kansas finished:
I like your music because it takes me to different worlds.
The more traditional songs you play (i.e. Dun Cow, Star of the County Down), remind me of campfires and long nights with friends, drinking and singing until dawn. They connect me to a people that I have no blood ties with, but whose culture I have grown to cherish.
The Pirate songs you provided on Song Henge take me through time to the high seas and adventure…an impressive feat since I'm in Kansas which is a far sight away from any sea.
The filks provide a different take on reality depending on the songs I'm listening to. Songs like Lusty Young Sith, the Jedi Drinking Song (both the original and the prequel) and My Father was a Werewolf provide another gateway through which I can enter some of my favorite fictional worlds. The cat filks, such as Kitty at the Door provide another take on reality, the entitlement and demands exhibited by our feline friends a reminder that you can bend the world to your will, if your will is strong enough.
The Christmas Podcasts you gathered this year put me in a truly joyous holiday mood for the first time in a couple of years.
Your music is different from other things I listen to is that it has the capacity to both captivate and fade to the background. I can do nothing but sit and listen and be totally focused on learning them. At the same time I can set my playlists created from Song Henge, hit random and listen for hours at work without consciously being aware of it. But I definitely know the difference when my mp3 player dies and I find myself struggling to survive the day until I can get back to your music. It carries me through the mundane tasks of cleaning, which suddenly become a lot easier as I use my time doing the dishes to catch up on the latest download or listen to the most recent post of the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast. Regardless of what I'm working on, your music has a place.
Anyway thank you for your efforts in composing and compiling great music and sharing it with all of us. Keep up the good work.
There you go. If you need a reason to pick up a copy of Kilted For Her Pleasure, I hope you found five great ones above.
