Guitars, Improv, and Camping

I went camping this past weekend with Kenzie, her bestie, and her bestie's dad. We were up near Mentone staying on a place we found through Hipcamp.

It was a pretty, fun and relaxing trip. I brought my autoharp and guitar out there. I spent most of the time on the guitar. But I did take a break from it long enough to record a song in the great outdoors for Patrons. I tried to get a music video of a song. But I kept forgetting to hit record on the audio AND video. So I'll post what I can.

While I had a great time practicing, I think the best time was Saturday night. I was playing guitar when Kenzie walked up. I asked her if she wanted to play her clarinet with me. To my complete and utter surprise, she said yes.

We had driven up to the camp site right after school on Friday. So she had her instrument. But rarely does she volunteer to play with me. It usually feels like I'm pulling finger nails. Yet, here she was saying yes!

We played a couple songs. She practiced some of her band song tunes after that. My friend had mentioned improv earlier in the day. So I asked if he wanted to do some acting. He and his daughter did a little show for me, while Kenzie played backing music.

It was a fantastic experience. I think it was also something to remind me about getting people involved, just like I was doing at ALEP.

I wonder how I can make my concerts in Atlanta a little more interactive.

Have any thoughts? Let me know.
