The search for great free music downloads continues. Well, this week I released another free mp3 from the Brobdingnagian Bards next CD, “Brobdingnagian Fairy Tales. The CD is still in production but blossoming beautifully!
I wrote “Happily Ever After,” man, I've lost track of time. It was some time in 1999 when I wrote it.
I remember in college going to a conference in St. Louis. There was a panel on relationships, and the speaker introduced us to a children's book called, “The Paperbag Princess.” This reversed fairy tale told the story of a princess who saves herself from a dragon rather than putting up with the vanity of “Prince Charming.”
It made a great impact on me. The result was scribbling out a song called, “Happily Ever After” about that tale.
It's popularity in early days spread quite well, and by our second year together it was used by Texas A&M as a chant for the Core there. I always thought that that was way cool.
