I was trying to decide what would be the best kind of gift to give for St Patrick's Day. I decided on a St Patrick's Day concert as part of Pub Songs & Stories.

I had my first St Patrick's Day show this weekend. It was at Ironshield Brewing. It was a fantastic celebration.

I was a little worried about how many people might show up. We're still in the middle of a pandemic. So I don't want a TON of people at my shows. But it's still nice to have a decent-sized, active audience. That's exactly what we had.

I couldn't tell you how many people were there. All of the outdoor tables were occupied. There were not too many people standing around drinking. Everyone had a mask when they walked around. It felt fairly comfortable, and not just because I had my first vaccine shot on Monday.

What was amazing was the interactivity. I love seeing viewers interact with my shows online. But nothing beats it when it's live and in person. When you can hear some someone shout “Slainte Mhaith!” at the appropriate time.

When I'm up on stage, a speaker is pretty close to my ear. It's difficult for me to hear the audience. You really have to shout for me to hear you.

Nevertheless, I could hear my audience!

That's AMAZING!

People were singing along. They were shouting, cheering and laughing. It was the most-interactive show I've had in a long time.

Oh! And that's doubly so on St Patrick's Day. Far too often, crowds are more interested in drinking than celebrating with music and song.

That was NOT the case here. They were drinking and enjoying the fun beers of Ironshield. But a larger number were just happy to hear some live Irish music. It was amazing! I had so many people come up to me and say, “thank you”.

I feel truly blessed.
