Hope…the Change We Need

I’m listening to The Carbon Connection podcast. It help me realize why I took interest in the Carbon Almanac. The guest, Paul Hawking, isn’t talking about climate change at the end of the world. Instead he’s talking about hope.

That is the message, the subjects behind the book. It’s not too late. There is hope.

The challenge is to find inspiration enough to realize we not only can make a difference. But that we should difference. By taking actions and steps right now to make our planet healthier.

I’ve seen the word regeneration with regard to climate change a bunch recently. I love that concept. It’s not about stopping doing something bad. Instead, it’s about doing some thing good that rebuilds, that strengthens our community.

It’s positive. And we all need more positive.

Every time I look at the news I find myself angry. I was looking at blogs and podcasts from my past. I spent a lot of time complaining. I’m tired of that. I want something else. I want hope.

Carol made a comment a few months back that one of the things she liked about my songs is that they are filled with hope. I’m happy that comes through. I am overall an optimist.

But how do we make change happen so we can keep our planet and our people safe and loved?

I think that comes from within. It comes from hope. It comes from strengthening our community.

When our community is strong and healthy, it’s so much easier to see the light at the end of the tunnel. If it’s easier to find common ground among our peers.

So instead of focusing on the negative, I’m going to try my best to focus once more on hope. I will fail… often. But I’m gonna try to talk about those things that are important. Not to change your mind, because I won’t. Rather to share what I believe is right and how easy and uplifting it is.

With any luck, hope and generosity will make the change that will make our world a better place.
