You listen to an episode of the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. You hear a song or tune you love. “That's awesome!,” you say. So you vote in our poll. At the end of the year, I compile your favorites. This is the Celtic Top 20.
It's not easy voting in the Celtic Top 20. You're usually doing something else while you're listening to the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. You might not be able to vote immediately. Or you're like Pam of Haggis Rampant who told me sometimes there are too many bands to choose from.
How do you pick when you're on the move?
That's the challenge I've faced over the years creating the Celtic Top 20. Each year, I try to come up with a new way to make it easier to vote. Because I want the Celtic Top 20 to be the absolute best music of the year.
We're gonna try something new in 2019. You no longer have to choose one or two bands. You can vote for as many artists as you want in each show.
You see, I'm a lot like Pam. I love listening back to shows and picking my favorites. There are too many to choose from. So I created a way to make it easier for me. I think it'll work for you too.
Here's how it works:
1. Open a text file on your phone.
2. Type in the show number.
3. At the top of each episode, I list every band in that episode.
4. Copy that list. Paste it next to the show number.
5. Listen to the episode
6. Each time you find a song you don't like, remove that artist from the list.
7. At the end of the show, go to http://bestcelticmusic.net/vote/.
8. Copy and paste your list and submit!
That's it… eight simple steps that will make voting easier!
As usual, if you're unsure who a band is, go to the shownotes. I list show times for each track in the podcast.
In episode #391, the song you love is at 12:32? No problem.
Go to shownotes. Look up the time and you'll see that is Catherine Koehler's track “My Lovely Rose of Clare”.
Let's make 2019 the absolute best year ever. Start your voting engines!
