I love it when fans promote my music. But it’s not for the mercenary reason you’re thinking.

It all goes back to a post I made a last month: “I wonder why am so confident playing one set with Kilted Kings but not when I’m playing solo?”

Someone nailed it in the comments. It’s easier promoting “us” than “me”.

I’m the same way. One of the reasons I have the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast is I’m terrified of promoting myself. So I do it passively. I promote others. In the process, I get the word out about my music too.

It turns out that doing so builds good Kharma. But it stems from an insecurity. Am I good enough? Is it too egoistical to promote myself?
