Last week, I learned an interesting stat. When you buy a shirt or CD, that’s the equivalent of about 6000 streams on Spotify.  Incredible!

I realized early on as a musician how important it is to educate my audience. The average listener doesn’t understand that my success is largely based on you. So I try and teach things like that so you know how important it is. And not just for me, but for all musicians.

Now I’m a firm believer in Spotify. I want you to have an easy way to listen to my music. Streaming is great for that.

But it doesn’t pay the bills.

And it doesn’t allow me to keep creating music.

This is where education comes in. You can make a difference in my life. By listening, yes. But also by buying something or tipping or if you love the digital world, then by joining the Gunn Runners Club on Patreon.

I came up with a fun way to educate that 6000 streams stat above—a comic book.

In fact, I created short booklet for my Firefly Drinking Songs Show at Dragon Con. It’s gonna debut the comic. It’ll also be used to promote the Brobdingnagian Bards shows this weekend, as well as other endeavors.

I gotta say I’m quite proud of the whole booklet. Jennifer Haskel (of Arr and Tarr Trolls fame) put it together. She also colorized Kenzie’s comics.

And it’s the comic that I am most excited about.

I wrote a silly comic script. Then I got this bright idea. I asked Kenzie to illustrate it. She was amazing!

I’m not good at drawing pictures. But Kenzie… she’s an artist. She blows my mind constantly with her pictures. And I don’t think that’s just a proud daddy talking. She has talent.

Well after it was done, Jennifer colorized it and placed the four short comics into the magazine. All of this just so folks in line for Firefly Drinking Songs have something fun to read while they wait.

Yeah. Maybe I’m a bit cray-cray.

But I LOVE the result. The zine will arrive on Tuesday.

This is where you come in. I’ve decided to sell the first 15 copies for just $10 each (+ shipping). This will help me cover the cost of printing. I will also number and sign each zine.

Now just so you know, I will make the comics available to my Behind-the-Scenes Gunn Runners, after Dragon Con.
