Right now, Kenzie is in her bouncy chair in my office. She's playing with a carrot and having a great time trying to eat the leaves and bouncing while the annoying music kicks in. However, as long as she's enjoying it, I'm happy.
People keep asking for updates about Kenzie so I thought I'd write a few words to let you know what's new.
First, Kenzie is doing great right now. The surgery to replace her first shunt was a resounding success. Kenzie bounced back from that February surgery quite rapidly. The next one, the big one, is tentatively scheduled for October.
Now Kenzie is almost six months old. She's long and thin being in the 75th percentile for height and 10th for weight. We started her on rice cereal about right before St. Patrick's Day. She started eating other solids about a week later. Now she eats her veggies, loves her carrots, occasionally is thrilled with apples, and enjoys food twice a day.
Due to the chest surgery, she hasn't been allowed to do “tummy time” through most of her life. Over the past few weeks, she's started turning over. Now she spends a decent amount of time rolling over. She hasn't developed the strength to start crawling yet, but we expect it soon. I'm betting that by the time we move to Alabama on May 8th, she's gonna be crawling all over the place.
Developmentally, Kenzie is doing awesome. All in all, she's doing great. So thank you again for all your support and encouragement.
Finally, for those want some pics and aren't on facebook, check out her flickr page.
