Land Loch’d | Atlanta Celtic Music

One of my goals this year is to promote my local community. You've heard the phrase “buy local”. I also want to promote local.

But what is “local”? Local might be proximity like these Atlanta Celtic Music articles. However, it is also what your community is.

For me, it's the Sci F'Irish community. It's a little Celtic and a little Geek. Today's feature is a little Celtic, a little pirate, and a little geek. I'm excited to share this feature of Land Loch'd. They puts on a great show at the Georgia Renaissance Festival. You should go check them out if you get a chance.

Selcouth will be released on Monday. I posted a bunch of new merchandise in my Bandcamp store. Go shopping when you get a chance. It's all at MageRecords.com.

Sometimes in music—less is more…and that idea is showcased perfectly with this Atlanta-area Celtic band—in the best possible way.

When it comes to Land Loch’d, this thought really has to do with the fact that with only two men, the energy is high and the music is so very enjoyable! Armed with a drum and guitar (with an occasional other instrument thrown in)—or singing without anything other than a steady beat, the band has an ease about them that really connects. They also have an astonishing ability to recall (and sing) rather complex lyrics. Add more than a bit of “pirate flavor” to the mix and you really have a solid recipe for a raucous good time. These guys just don’t need anything else to entertain.

Crowds really get involved in the music when these gentlemen play live, and the energy they bring to a stage pretty much ensures that Land Loch’d is never going to be that “simple background music” type of group—and that’s O.K! The thumping beat and rousing songs do much to capture attention and harness the energy in the room! They are an “audience’s band” through and through, although their offerings are certainly sure to please in a recorded format as well.

Each and every Celtic style band has something that is completely their own that makes them who they are, and Land Loch’d is no exception. In their case the magic is in the relationship between the two men that make up the duo. You can both see and feel the energy between them as they play live. It feels like they are brothers—brothers in music—and I can’t think of a better reason to play together than that!

Celtic music fans that appreciate the type of group that rouses the spirit and is able to pull an audience together to listen will want to check this band out for sure.
