Earlier I suggested that you add a link to your favorite band's homepage. But search engines aren't just interested in homepages. They want great content in whatever form they can get. Your favorite band's blog may be just the place to find it.
Write a blog or add a link to your favorite band's individual blogs. By doing so, you could drive more traffic to their website.
One of the most-popular pages on my website is titled “Celtic Songs & Folk Music Downloads”. It includes a link to my free CD Confessions of a Celtic Music Junkie as well as links to all my free music downloads websites. Note the title of the page–“Celtic Songs & Folk Music Downloads”. Guess what search terms are popular for this page: “celtic songs”, “celtic folk music”, “free folk music”, and “folk music downloads” are some of the top.
A while back, I posted lyrics to “The Ballad of Jayne”. That's the alternate title to “Hero of Canton”, the popular song from the TV show Firefly. After posting the lyrics, I learned of the “Hero of Canton” title and started linking to the page myself using that title. Now whenever someone searches for “hero of canton lyrics”, they find my blog.
At the end of 2010, I wrote an article called “Top Celtic Folk Bands“. Now do a search for those terms or variations and you will find my website coming to the top of the search results. What would happen if YOU link to it? The answer: that blog will soon become one of the top blogs for those search terms.
Ah! Here's an interesting question. I wrote an article called “Top 14 Celtic CDs of 2010”.The article has a byline with a link back to me. If you and each of those bands in the article linked back to that article. Three things would occur. First, that article would become of the most-popular articles for “Top Celtic CDs”. Second, each of those bands in the article would get extra attention on them because their CD is listed as one of the Top 14 Celtic CDs of 2010. And third, I as the author, would also get a wee bit more attention for my contribution.
Do you get the idea? Blog about your favorite blog articles or blog about stuff your favorite band blogs about. Sum it up, add your personal opinion and a link back to the blog. By doing so, you will help your favorite band become more popular in the search engines, which equals more fans, which equals more music for you.
