I realized that having a hurty hand was probably a blessing in disguise. It says, “Stop spending so much time on the computer and pack!” That's what I've tried to do this past week.
With the exception of performing the final show of the Brobdingnagian Bards at the Browncoat Ball, I spent much of the week trying to pack. It's not easy. I have too much junk. It's daunting. Right now, most of my “packing” is about organizing and throwing stuff away. Now I'm even selling a bunch of stuff on eBay. With two weeks to go before I move to New Orleans, I can feel the time creeping up on me.
— Quote of the Week: “There is something about the presence of a cat…. that seems to take the bite out of being alone.” -Louis J. Camuti
— CD of the Week: On the Drift by Bedlam Bards. I had so much fun playing at the Browncoat Ball. AND I got to spend time with some good friends who taught us a lot in our early days as Renaissance festival musicians, the Bedlam Bards. We had the pleasure of jamming with them at the Ball. Love those guys!
— Hear My Music on: Our Place, Before Radio, Acoustic Folk Favorites
— Celtic Invasion of Italy. The trip is currently sold out, but I still have room on the waiting list. You can be the first. There's always someone who drops out, so sign up to the waiting list or find out about the next Celtic Invasions.
— October 16th is National Feral Cat Day. This annual event is part of Alley Cat Allies' national education campaign. Many advocates and supporters take this opportunity to distribute educational products or host local events—workshops, fundraisers, and special spay and neuter clinic days—for stray and feral cats. You can help spread the message about feral cats, why they need a different kind of care, and how communities can band together to stop the killing of cats in their local animal control pounds and shelters—on National Feral Cat Day and all year round.
— Celtic Song-Along. In addition to playing the whiskey and wine tastings at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival, I am hoping to have a stage. I don't have anything solid yet, but I hope to hold a Celtic Sing-Along for my stage show. What are you favorite sing-alongable songs that I sing?
— More Red Dwarf at Last!. After a long-awaited break, Red Dwarf is coming back to the tube. Four shows. The first is a “making of”. The second and third are like real episodes of Red Dwarf. The fourth is something special. All are done to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Red Dwarf. Out in 2009. I can't wait!!!
— Pub Songs Podcast Reworked. I reset up the Pub Songs Podcast on the Libsyn website. It's looking better than ever. A new show is uploaded too.
— Irish & Celtic Music Podcast #57 is posted. Also, if you had problems of Show #57, I uploaded a new version.
— Cat Songs and Lyrics. I thought I'd compile my list of cat songs in one area. Not sure it's complete, but here goes.
— Real Men Wear Kilts Arrives. The second pressing (with the typo correction) arrived yesterday. I'm sending them off to CD Baby right now. Two weeks and they are up.
— Help Me Get Rid of Some DVDs. I have a bunch of stuff I'm trying to clearance. If you want some cool videos or other bits, check it out. Cost barely anything!
— Call and Response. A movie that exposes the evil global slave trade of CHILDREN!!! Please spread the word about this!
— Ring of Hope Song Lyrics on eBay. I found the original scraps of paper on which I wrote “The Ring of Hope”. You can see how the song evolved by bidding on this. More stuff on eBay.
— Contribute to the Brobdingnagian Bards archives. Rie Sheridan has been our “archivist” for many years now. She's been slowly gathering up the fruits of our labor in the form of pictures, concert programs, flyers, posters, knick knacks and more. If you have duplicates or would like to share stuff, contact her at riewrites1 at yahoo.com.
— UPCOMING GIGS. Space Madness at Elysium! Hear geeky, spaced out songs performed by Marc Gunn on Friday at 10pm. Then on Sunday, I play Pawstock.
— Wine and Whiskey Tasting at Louisiana Renaissance Festival. If you want an incredible experience at LARF, sign up now for the Wine and Whiskey Tastings. You will learn a ton about the drinks, PLUS, you'll hear a few songs for me. Right now, this is the only show I have at the festival. However, I am hoping to score more. Time will tell.
— Check me out on Myspace, SoundClick, Demand a Show on Eventful, Wikipedia, Twitter, Facebook, Livejournal, Sonicbids, and DeviantArt. And if you'd like a CD…
