Marc’s Musings: Don’t Mean to BUG You

“I sure hope it doesn't look I'm being completely annoyed by all the bugs.” That's what I was thinking for this week's Coffee with The Celtfather.

I have worked from home since 2005. One of the highlights of doing so is that I can get out of the house every now and then. The problem is I always feel overwhelmed with all the computer work I have to do. Podcasts. Blogs. Promotion. Video. Soooo many things.

Yet, it's also self-imposed overwhelm. It  is something I can control. I just have to make a decision on what's most important.

So yesterday, I did something new. Something I've wanted to do for a LONG time. I combined my music with adventure. I packed my autoharp, a tripod, and a wagon to carry stuff in, and drove over to some locals woods.

I found a location, and I pre-recorded this week's Coffee with The Celtfather–Coffee in the Woods. That's the title of this week's show. Yeah, there are bugs flying around my face. You might hear bikers, walkers and dogs in the background. It's all a part of this Thursday's show that I get to watch and interact WITH you!

I can't wait!

THIS IS ONLY A TEST…

I've been pretty consistent with the content of Pub Songs & Stories this year. There are 2-3 stories. The show is 30-45 minutes long. It's kind of awesome.

The only problem I have with it is I can't seem to publish more than one episode per month. Half of my Patrons in the Gunn Runners Club don't seem to mind. Some like the infrequent, but long episodes. Some want to hear from me more often.

Personally, I like the weekly format of podcasts. It keeps the show on the top of my mind. But there is no way I can keep adventuring and do a second weekly podcast that is 30-45 minutes long. I just can't do it. So my engineer, Mitchell, suggested an alternative. Why not just do ONE story per week, plus my song, and possible story.

So that's my goal from now through October. You will hear the stories behind the songs, but the episodes will be shorter, 10-15 minutes probably. And they will come out weekly for 3-4 times per month.

We start with this one…

THE TRUE BRAVEHEART ON PUB SONGS & STORIES

This week on Pub Songs & Stories, I have an episode on the Black Douglas. He was the original Braveheart.

Celtic Appalachian Rock band, Tuatha Dea released a single a couple months back called “Black Douglas.” It is a song that reclaims the title Braveheart from William Wallace back where it belongs.

You can listen to the “Black Douglas” story right now on Pub Songs & Stories.

KICKSTARTER UPDATES X2

First, the newest Kickstarter funding Season 9 of Coffee with The Celtfather was a success. I doubled my goal. So not only will you get to watch the show on YouTube this fall, but you'll also get it on Facebook, Twitch, Twitter, and possibly more. This is all thanks to everyone who supported the Kickstarter.

Second is my next CD, Selcouth. The graphics for Selcouth are almost all finished. I just need to update the credits.

I almost finished editing the liner notes/song booklet as well. I should be able to order that booklet by the end of the week.

There are still a few outstanding Surveys from people who initially Kickstarted the album. But those are almost complete too. There are just about 20 left.

As for the music, there's one track that's giving us trouble. But I think it's almost done. Hopefully, I will reveal the big news next week.
