Marc’s Musings: St Patrick’s Day CD Re-Released

I opened my Spotify Artists app first thing this morning. I check it to see if my music is getting played. When you open it up, the latest release is listed. I expected to see “Kilkelly, Ireland“. Instead, I saw my re-released album, St Patrick's Day.

You can get St Patrick's Day here.

In 2012, I released the album Not Every Day is St Patrick's Day. It was a fun album of Irish and Scottish songs, the perfect accompaniment for a trip to an Irish pub or a Renaissance festival. It was the ideal album to record for someone who hosts the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast and the Pub Songs Podcast.

The original album did pretty well. I made a lot of new fans from it. I have people who still rave about the album, or individual songs on the album like “Nancy Whiskey“, “Rising of the Moon“, and “Kilkelly, Ireland”.

But I had a few small issues with it.

One was the front cover. I feel notorious for loving photos of myself from behind (see the Bards Live CD). LOL. I like the way the original cover looked. But it doesn't grab your attention. It also didn't remind you of St Patrick's Day.

The second issue was the album name.

I originally intended to call it St Patrick's Day. Because that was the keyword I wanted to dominate.

I talked myself out of it with the cooler (IMO) name Not Every Day Is St Patrick's Day. I feel like that move hurt the sales (and now streams).

Since I am now out of almost all of the physical CDs of the original album, it was time for a re-release.

It's not the same album. There are THREE songs that were not a part of the original CD: “Molly Malone“, “O'er the Way“, and “Purple Flower“. The last two are original songs. All three were released on compilations that I scraped when I decided to re-release the album.

St Patrick's Day is a fun album. And it is PACKED with over an hour of music.

If you have the original CD…

Thank you!

In fact, send a picture of yourself with your CD. I'll send you a download code for the updated album in my store on Bandcamp.

If you don't have the CD… would you be interested?

Reply now and let me know. I may consider a limited release of the physical CD.

In the meantime, you can buy or stream the digital album here.

NEW PUB SONGS & STORIES

There is a new episode of the Pub Songs Podcast that was released last week. I share a little bit more about how I recorded St Patrick's Day.

I sing “Kilkelly, Ireland” and “Rocky Road to Dublin“. I even sing “Johnny Jump Up“. Speaking of that song….

A Celtic Rock band from Brazil called Tuatha de Danann emailed me a few months back. They asked me to sing on their version of the song, “The Devil Drinks Cider”. That song was released on their album last month. You can hear my interview with the lead singer, Bruno. You'll also enjoy the performance of that song in the show.

You have Got. To. Hear. This!
