Marc’s Musings: Tartans and Vaccinations

Today, I talk about getting vaccinated, my upcoming trip to Sherwood Forest Faire, and a new CD as part of the new Pub Songs & Stories podcast that is now online. Plus, you'll find out what shows are coming up both on and offline.

Greetings

I got my second vaccine on Monday. I had very mild symptoms fortunately. Today, I feel fantastic. Oh, what a relief!

It's amazing how much a difference it makes with my comfort level going to the grocery store, or anywhere. Yeah. I still proudly wear a mask. But I no longer feel neurotic about it.

I feel more comfortable as I prepare for my first big out-of-town show at Sherwood Forest Faire in Texas. Even more so because I heard a report from Andrew McKee that the faire is still taking the virus serious, enforcing mask wearing and other CDC precautions.

I can't wait to be back in Texas for the festival!

TARTAN DAY PODCAST NOW ONLINE

The latest Pub Songs & Stories podcast was released just in time for Tartan Day (May 6). I talk about kilts and filk circles. I share a brief history of Tartan Day. I also have a Tartan Day story from Kyf Brewer of the Celtic rock band, Barlyejuice.

SPEAKING OF PUB SONGS…
NEW CD AND FREE MP3s COMING!

I changed the way I produced the Pub Songs & Stories podcast this year. Mitchell Petersen, my audio editor for the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast, now edits this show too. That saves me a lot of time. But it also costs a bit more money. I needed a way to pay for my audio editor and increase the production value of the show. So I came up with an interesting idea… a New CD.

You see, most of my songs in the show are new, live recordings made exclusively for the podcast. I used to record them and that was the only to hear those songs. Now, they will be released on a limited-edition CD to pay for the production of the show.

Whether you want the CD or not, everyone who is subscribed to this newsletter, Marc's Musings, will get a free MP3 every month. The MP3s will be from the new CD which I'm calling Virtual Pubic House.

Oh! And if you're subscribed to the Gunn Runners Club on Patreon, then you'll get a bonus MP3 as well.

The CD will be released in May. Though I also hope to have copies for Sherwood Forest Faire.

More to come!

Oh and Yes. I'm still working on Selcouth. Most of the tracks are in. I think I'm waiting on one more band before it's done.
