Marc’s Musings: The Great Adventure!

The adventure has begun. The Kickstarter for Come Adventure With Me is a tremendous success. It took just a few days to meet my $5000 goal.

Thanks to everyone who helped me kickstart this album. We’re currently less than $80 away from $7000. How high will it go?

LADS AMONG THE HEATHER

The latest public episode of Pub Songs & Stories features my song “Lads in the Shire”. I talk about how Kelly and Mitchell wrote lyrics inspired by “Lads Among the Heather” by Wolf Loescher.

However, I forgot to share a link to the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast episode with the song. So  you can listen to it on a recent episode.

That’s a fantastic episode for many reasons. Lots of good songs. But it also has a Celtic Story by Lissa Schneckenburger. Lissa did a bicycle tour of New England a couple years back. She shares the story. I highly recommend you listen.

That story is one of things that has re-inspired my own research into a more sustainable music business.

I’ve long been annoyed by all the plastic packaging on my CDs. It’s great for protecting the product. But plastic like that is not recyclable. So what can be done?

Right now, I still have 3000+ CDs in my office. So that’s all a sunk cost. There’s nothing I can do there.

But with new CDs…? I can make a change that’s better for the environment.

IN FACT…

I’m seriously considering making only one printing of CDs for Come Adventure With Me. I am even plotting to print CD jackets myself.

IF I can find a local printer, I would order the actual CDs elsewhere. Then I will glue the jacket together  and put the CD in it.

I did this with the first printing of Marked By Great Size by Brobdingnagian Bards many years ago. It was a lot of work, BUT it’s better for the environment.

Hmmm. Maybe I could have CD packaging parties. Lol

Would you be willing to help if you’re local?

Just an idea.

DEEP DIVE INTO COME ADVENTURE WITH ME

A new episode of Pub Songs & Stories comes out today. However, this one is available only to my patrons on Patreon… Oh! And to everyone who helps Kickstart the new CD.

I’ve never told the full story. You will hear large pieces if you listen to the In the ‘Verse episode about the 1977 Rankin & Bass film, The Hobbit. But there’s a lot more to that story. I think I share Everything in this episode.

So make a pledge on Kickstarter or Patreon to listen.

The next Public episode of that Pub Songs & Stories will be out in a couple weeks.

Finally, the first Coffee with The Celtfather show went great success. I was a little rusty. But I had fun. And the Sci F’Irish Roulette show was also a lot of fun. I’m gonna plan to do that again in the future. Stay tuned.
