Moving Like A Celt

We moved to Birmingham eight years ago this month. It was always a temporary home. But it’s still hard to believe we’re leaving it.

But my wife graduated. She’s got a good job. I can work from anywhere.

I’m really excited about Atlanta though. It’s a big city. There’s lots of opportunities for my music. There are a ton of Celts and geeks and conventions. I can’t wait to get involved in my new home.

But first…

We have to move. Inara turns four in May. I have an autoharp festival. Then we have a family vacation. Then there's my annual Celtic Invasion Vacation.

I don't know if that sounds like a lot to you. But it requires a LOT of preparation. I had to find guest hosts for the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. I need to finish a couple episodes of the Pub Songs Podcast. I have bootleg concerts for Heroic Patrons to post. And then there's a whole bunch of videos.

I'm not very good at staying organized. Most of my success has come from having a ton of time available and working constantly. That's not the way things are right now.

Now, I have no time. So I find myself better organized and doing more with less time. It's a great exercise for helping me to plan ahead. There's a lot I don't usually accomplish because I don't feel like I have the time. I'm hoping to change that for the future even when I'm not so busy. But we shall see if I can keep it up…

In the meantime, some things to take note of.

SEASON 3 OF COFFEE WITH THE CELTFATHER ENDS TOMORROW, APRIL 17

I decided to end my weekly Coffee with The Celtfather shows a little early this season so I can focus on moving.

My test of using YouTube as a live streaming platform was not very successful. Even though folks don't typically stick around on Facebook more than a song or two, I feel like it's worked better as a live music platform. Even if it's ephemeral. So I'm moving back there next season.

I will keep using YouTube. However, I have to figure out how to keep building my channel without the live video… or at least without live video every week. Yes, I'm gonna still do live shows there too.

The final show of the season is tomorrow. Get notified and Watch the show.

Oh, important note! I'm driving to Atlanta tomorrow. So the time will be *around* 11 am CST. But it may be a wee bit late or early because I don't know what time I will arrive in Atlanta to play the final episode.

Remember. It's an all request show. As soon as you start watching, post your song request. I'll do a few extra songs. But I will still have to unpack the moving truck.

3 1/2 HOUR FEATURE ON SHERWOOD FOREST FAIRE

This year was the 10th anniversary of Sherwood Forest Faire. I recorded a lot of interviews there over the years. I decided to use them all… in one gigantic podcast.

On Thursday, you can enjoy a 3 1/2 hour special feature on my Pub Songs Podcast. You'll hear all of those interviews intermixed with music from musicians from the faire.

Don't miss this latest addition to the Pub Songs Podcast. Subscribe here.
