Several years ago, I was actively publishing The Bards Crier Music Marketing Newsletter. Every week or so, I sent out an article with guerrilla music promotion tips for bands. The ezine was highly praised by many of the best music marketers online, including Bob Baker who wrote the Guerrilla Music Marketing Handbook. I must've done something right!
Eventually, I decided to focus on making music. However, one question has lingered to this day. Why isn't there a book of music promotion tips not for bands, but for their fans?
You see, there are plenty of resources these days for independent musicians to promote themselves. There are none for the fans. And yet, all the great bands were defined by their fans. Fans who actively promote their favorite band will help that band become more successful faster.
And so, I have decided to take to this challenge. I will start a series of short posts with a variety of very specific tips on how to promote MY music.
If you enjoy it, please follow the tips that you are able to follow.
If you don't care about what I do, that's fine. Follow the tips to promote your favorite band. Help them out. Then share these posts with others who want to learn more about promoting independent music.
Oh! One final note. If you have comments or promotion tip suggestions, please post them in the comments below. I'll add the best tips to the list as I go. Feel free to include active examples.
