New Social Media Strategy: Less Is More

I have a new social media marketing strategy…Less is more.

I currently use two social media sites: Instagram and Facebook.

I’m a terrible photographer. Instead of posting good pictures on Instagram, I InstaBlog…with a picture.

If I’m in the mood, I share pics, videos, or Spotify songs in InstaStories.

Facebook is my main social platform. It’s the first place I share news of what’s going. I announce new podcasts, songs, videos, and what’s happening on Patreon.

Oh! And I thank Patrons.

There’s a recurring problem. I’m not social.

I love it when You interact with others on my posts. I’m thrilled when I see You sharing my content.

But I believe I attract fans similar to me.

That means You too are probably not great with social media either. You want to consume and then go back to your cave to listen to music or podcasts.

That’s awesome. And I’m tired of forcing myself to be something I am not. Especially when it is not necessary for my success.

Social media is a game. A game I don’t want to play any longer.

Seth Godin released his new book last week. It’s called This Is Marketing. I haven’t read it yet. But in his Akimbo podcast, he reminds me that marketing today is not about reaching the most people. It’s about reaching Your people.

When Your people are overflowing with passion, then it will pour out to others.

And so my new social media strategy is to stop creating content for social media. My goal is to create content for you (and for me).

If it touches you, perhaps, you’ll share with one person who you think will love it.

But my job is to create. Thank you for allowing me to do that.
