Marc's Musings

Greetings <:firstname:>,

Happy New Years! I had a nice holiday. Lots o'cool gifts and now I'm off visiting family in Virginia and booked a special engagement.

HOUSE CONCERT IN DELAWARE

Sorry for the last minute notice, but I was able to score a wee venue while I'm visiting family on the East Coast.

Date: Saturday, January 14, 2006
Time: House Opens at 7:00pm. First set ~ 7:30pm.
Location: Green Briar Road
City: Seaford, Delaware 11973
Phone #: (302) 245-3894 or email houseconcert200601@thebards.net
Cover: $10 per person (Please RSVP)

I don't play music solo that often, so this is a great chance to hear some of my music and also hear the elusive kitty songs. There'll be a nice mix of cats and Celtic music.

VOTE IN THE AUSTIN MUSIC POLL

Okay, this is a huge deal. Every year, Andrew and I are up for awards in the Austin's annual music poll. Remember, Austin bills itself as the Live Music Capitol of the World so placing in this competition is not easy. Yet, for the past few years we've done better and better. In fact, last year, the Brobdingnagian Bards won Best Novelty Band and I won Best Album Cover.

Despite our success, we still didn't reach my goals. I want to win Best Folk Band. For the past two years, we were #2 for Best Folk Band. I really think this year, we can win.

Plus, there are many other awards that are up. The Dubliners Tabby Cats for Best New Band. Ari Koinuma for Best Producer. Ingrid Houwers for Best CD Cover.

In order to win we need your votes! If you like the music we create, please vote for us. You can go to thebards.net/links/Austin_Chronicle_Poll.shtml where you will find some suggestions on what to vote for you. Vote. And then go find another fan and tell them to vote as well. All we need is a wee bit o'help and we will sweep the awards.

Thanks a million and I hope you have a brilliant new year!

Marc's Lyrics & Poetry

Mrs. Molly the Cat
by Roy Janik

A submission for my next CD of Irish songs about cats. This one is pretty amusing, though I've no idea how I'd be able to enunciate all those fst, rowr, hacks.

In a dank, dark back alley
where no one should dally
that's where I first saw Mrs. Molly the Cat
At the sound of my foot falls,
She hocked up a hairball.

Crying, "Hss Fttt, Rowr, fttt, hsss, rowr, meow hock, ack ack."
Meow, hock ack ack! Meow, hock, ack ack!
Crying, "Hss Fttt, Rowr, fttt, hsss, rowr, meow, hock ack ack."

She had been left there to starve,
Her owners had hard hearts.
and the noises she made caused their last wits to crack.
For they all really hated
what she regurgitated

with a "Hss Fttt, Rowr, fttt, hsss, rowr, meow hock ack ack."
Meow, hock ack ack! Meow, hock, ack ack!
Crying, "Hss Fttt, Rowr, fttt, hsss, rowr, meow hock ack ack."

But despite her behaviour
I decided to save her.
And I took her that night to my small, humble shack.
I just turn up the T V
when she starts her heaving

with a "Hss Fttt, Rowr, fttt, hsss, rowr, meow hock ack ack."
Meow, hock ack ack! Meow, hock, ack ack!
Crying, "Hss Fttt, Rowr, fttt, hsss, rowr, meow hock ack ack."
