Postcard from Stone Mountain

I run every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. My running partner, Dan, suggested a different running path today…. straight up Stone Mountain. So after the kids got on the bus to school, we drove over to the park for our morning run.

It was cold and windy from the start, 45 degrees. I wore a jacket, hat, and gloves. I was still a little chilly. But not for not long. You warm up fast when you're running straight uphill even with frequent walking breaks.

The run was dark too. The sun still hadn't risen. I relied on Dan's lights to keep from dying on the rocky terrain. We were rewarded with an outstanding view at the top–sunrise on Stone Mountain.

The sky was lit up with the most-beautiful colors. We walked around the top and not only found the warmer side of the mountain, but also saw some beautiful lakes and trees.

What a great way to start the day!
