Postcard: Roscommon Castle, Back from Ireland News

Greetings Gunn Runners

I am back and recovered from my recent adventures. This year's Celtic Invasion Vacation took us to County Mayo in Ireland. We enjoyed saw majestic cliffs, ferried out to Clare Island, explored bog lands and standing stones. We sang songs and tapped our toes to traditional Irish music. We explored gardens and round towers. We at a lot of really amazing food. We got to know Westport really well. We even dropped by the Kylemore Abbey in Connemara and saw a castle in Roscommon. That's where this week's postcard is from:

Roscommon Castle was a side adventure we made on our way back to Dublin on this year's Celtic Invasion Vacation. The castle is located in a beautiful park where kids played, families fed ducks in a nearby pond, and individuals exercised all beneath the allure of this magnificent 13th century Norman castle. It was once a symbol of Irish oppression. Now it's a cherished part of the Irish community.

I love how we get to know a place so much better on our Celtic Invasion Vacations. There's still a LOT I would love to see and do in County Mayo. I think we definitely need to go back there some time.

But next year, we're doing something different. I just don't know what that is… yet.

If you're free the first week of June and want to travel with me, where would you like to go next year? What would you like to see? Email me.

Make sure you subscribe to the Celtic Invasion Vacations mailing list.

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT'VE MISSED

I haven't created a whole lot since I left on vacations in late May. I went to France and Italy before the Celtic Invasion. But here a few things that you might enjoy:

Irish Sessions with Kinnfolk #609 – Kinnfolk is a husband and wife duo out of Virginia. They hosted the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast back on June 8. They shared stories about the Irish sessions they played while they were honeymooning in Ireland.

Pride Month Celtic T-Shirt – Miranda Nelson put this fantastic shirt design together for me at the beginning of the year. I loved the shirt so much I decided it had to be a very special shirt that I will only release in June and the short run up to Pride Month. Of course, that means you have only 10 days left to buy a copy.

Kickstarter for Irish & Celtic Music Podcast – July 28 is the 18 year anniversary of the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. To celebrate and promote the podcast, I am raising money to pay for a new Album Pin. It's a beautiful design by Miranda. I don't need to raise a ton of money, but I figure if I can raise more than I need I can use that money to support the podcast throughout the year as well.

Marc Gunn Store Is Back Open – I have four CDs currently for sale in my store. Several will be disappearing from production very soon. That's because I am revamping how and what I sell. So if you still love CDs, make sure you order one soon. Before they're gone forever!

Renaissance Festival Podcast Anniversary – June 22 is the anniversary of the Renaissance Festival Podcast. I started it 18 years ago. I sold the show a number of years ago. But the crew asked me to join them for the anniversary of the show which comes out this week. Subscribe and listen!

And if you're a patron in my Gunn Runners Club on Patreon, you can also enjoy three podcasts from Ireland plus a video of me singing along the river in Westport. Check 'em out!

Thank you as always for being a part of my musical adventure. Life is a grand adventure. But it's even better when you're adventuring with friends. So keep singing along.

Where are you adventuring to this summer?

Let me know.

Slainte!
Marc
