Postcard: Yuletide

My friend, Nancy Flynn, sent me a couple hobbit-themed song lyrics a decade ago. The first track, “Christmas in the Shire”, is still one of my favorite songs on Celtic Christmas Greetings. I finally recorded her song “Yuletide” last year.

It is such a delightful song. It evokes so many memories and a wonderful feeling of holiday nostalgia.

I feel like each verse gets better and better. The first one makes me think of ALEP, the LOTR gathering we do in Kentucky every three years.

The second verse reminds me of the days I used to dance a lot more. But it also makes me want to play music.

The final verse is my favorite though. It’s all about food and drink and being with family.

And of course, the whole song is about hobbits. It’s hard to go wrong there.

What’s your favorite Christmas memory?

PS. Is it just me or does the Santa Claus in the picture look like he’s singing into a microphone?
